I was shocked at that decision,I had never seen machida fight so all day I was all:this is gonna be a good fight. Then they go off and im thinkin:ok that was round 1,he'll pick up the pace in round 2.He never picked it up and was clearly getting wrecked by shoguns kicks. That's BS that they gave it to LM,Shogun clearly was the better fighter.Oh and I was going for LM,f*ck him tho.On another note:Velazquez wooped ass!! Holy crap. Joe S. was good too.

I don't think it was as one sided as perhaps the forums suggested, though in the end Shogun probably should have won. When it comes to decisions though, the champ is normally given some form of weight, rightly or wrongly. I personally had it 1-2 points favouring Shogun. I think the UD was more puzzling to me than the actual scores.

I was looking forward to some day seeing a machida vs anderson fight. After last nights fight IMO it looks like anderson would just rape machida.......with no lube.

The announcers shape the crowds opinion quite a bit. I thought they played up Shogun's action a lot more. Machida was nailing Shogun with several strike combinations, too. Machida was also responding to the kicks with heavy strikes down the middle, just how they teach. It was close no doubt, but I was ok with the decision.
I like both guys a lot, so really I couldn't lose on that one |

I'll just laugh. I have argued this over and over on the martial arts forums. Most people hold your opinion. Even the fight metric that scores the striking Machida-Shogun has Rua way ahead. I think Machida's unusual strikes are hard for people to realize he is landing them. It was close, no doubt. I could see a close decision either way, but Rua did not run away with that fight. Many times Machida would land a 3 strike combo or counter Rua's kick, and Joe Rogan would say "Man, Rua is really landing these kicks!" I was yelling at my TV. Anyway, we have to agree to disagree. I think the fightmetric is just wrong. It didn't count all of Machida's srtikes |

I am sorry but nothing will beat 100. Possibly the best main event ever?
