Me and my sister did horse riding for a bit as kids. It doesn't have to be expensive at all if you don't get your own; in my experience some farmers who have horses are happy to let you go horseriding for free if you help care for them a little.

Yesss, I don’t know many horsey people but my friend has moved to a new yard where they buy and sell horses so I hopefully can go over and get to ride for free or in exchange for some yard work. |
