1) Stronger lower body = stronger upper body. Take the bench press as an example; you'll be able to lift more if you've your feet planted as opposed to just sticking straight out. 2) Larger, stronger leg/lower body will raise your resting metabolic rate. 3) Aesthetically, it's important. You'll look weird as hell at the beach if you don't, and - besides - girls don't just focus on the upper body.
