Actually, yes... there are multiple ways to train your cardio. The important thing is getting your heart rate up, you can just do some intense yoga or boxing style workouts. Find something that you enjoy and can stick with is way more important.

Another thing you can do is weight your backpack when you walk. One of my coworkers used to do that when she
was training her 5k to go faster and wanted to loose a few kilos. She used to run with 20 kilos in her pack. You dont have to run, just weight your pack and take a good walk. If you dont own weights, just fill up some milk jugs with water or sand. By using walking sticks, you can give your upper body a good workout. No big money investment, no silly diets. Just move. |

Yes, that's a great idea. I'm about to start a new job that will be considerably less active, so I've been considering wearing wrist/ankle weights. Adding some extra weight to my pack when hiking sounds like a great solution.
