Muscle hypertrophy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Quote:
Bodybuilders are unique in athletics as they do not train for strength, therefore pretty much every athlete who lifts weights, other than a bodybuilder, would train in the 4-6 range or even less. Quote:

4-6 reps will increase muscle size in the same way sprinting will increase stamina. You wouldn't tell a marathon runner to do sprints, because they are different goals, this is generally speaking of course. 8-14 has been proven to maximise sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, I don't see why we're disagreeing over this. Anything over 15+ would be endurance based. I have not looked at a gymnast's routine but I'd be willing to bet it'd be a combination of repetitions over 15+ with their own bodyweight, and under 6, because they would train for endurance and strength. |

my left pec is noticeably smaller than my right pec...any specific dumbbell exercises that i can do besides incline presses to make it as close to the size of the right one? i am aware that genetics has alot to do with it, but i'm also thinking that because i'm a right hander, that is probably why this contributes to the right being bigger...maybe im favoring the right arm too much when i lift? so maybe more weight on the left dumbbell should be added vs. right dumbbell? thoughts? thanks.

I'm left handed and left footed but my right quad is bigger than my left and my left arm is bigger than my right. EDIT - My right arm is stronger than my left too, both bicep and tricep. It's weird. Last edited by Cuthbert; 12-31-2012 at 01:42 PM. |

It is normal for the dominant side of the body to be stronger tho.
