When you first start, yeah. When you see progress, no. Suppose it's the same with all exercise really. Plus if you're doing abs you're usually doing it so they show through which means you'll be doing cardio and that for me is a pain in the arse and I hate it.

I use weights on my abs though, see much better results doing that than body weight exercises.

I haven't done my abs in about a year, I only just started lifting again so atm I'm just trying to put some weight on, eating pretty much what I want, abs are not my priority now, although I should really start soon as I'm starting to squat heavier.

Leg raises are amazing for lower abs. I also hate them, because they hurt.

When I dislocated my shoulder, my physical therapist was saying that exercises where you hang for extended periods of time do crazy damage on your shoulers. I'd avoid them. She advised Roman Chairs.

Yeah, I have a work gym and we're closed until the 2nd of January so I can't workout with weights until then. =(.

You can do leg raises other ways, I train at home:

I bought two of those from a hardware store, I think you use them to put wallpaper paste on walls lol, I use them on the corner of the kitchen surfaces like so:

You're not hanging, you're holding yourself up this way as if you were doing dips (I also do dips this way too.)

There's really endless exercises out there for every muscle group, i dont know the names of most so you would probably be better lurking some sort of fitness forum, i imagine they would have diagrams haha. I personally would work my external obliques (the sides of your abs, gives the toned 'V' at the hips) if I was a guy. It's damn hot.

Damn reminded me how lazy I am ._.

I just cant find time for gym it is too much work and afterward I cant do anything so I just drawn into work and dont have time to eat well
Weight lifting is useless Period
But When I used to go gym I usually just jog half hour five mile, do pushups 50 and lift ups (lift ups are incredibally usefull) then paddling thats one hour
or swimming is the best training

Weight lifting is useless Period

Good call. They are really easy to get to pop out as well compared to the abs. At least for me they are, they respond well to weight training.

Tell that to sprinters, gymnasts, boxers, triathletes, heptathletes, powerlifters...

It's completely relative and depends on your goal.

Yeah I agree, I mean it's not like I built all these upper body muscles by lifting weights... oh wait.

Yeah they are much easier to tone up and strengthen than abs, I dunno why lower abs are such bitches anyway but it is near impossible to work that area, which is probably why most people have a '6-pack'.
