Lookin sharp bud.
Ive been off work, hockey, and working out now almost 2 months cause of some health issues. I was at my absolute prime before all this. Im also an ectomorph body type so Ive got a real hard time putting on weight. I managed to get up to a super lean 185 at only 6ft tall. I really dont have any photos at all showing, but since then Ive already gone down to just over 170...which is a huge letdown. No matter what I eat, I cant keep the weight on without constantly weight training. I guess Ive got something to strive real hard for again once Im back on my feet.

Thanks man.
Yeah, same here. It's been 7 months since I got my cast off, and I've only put 9 pounds back on, and I know those were the easy ones. At my heaviest I was 190, and it fit me perfectly. I also hate all the remarks I get ("I wish I could lose thirty pounds by not working out for three months"). The thing I've had to do lately, which goes against my better instincts, is to only work heavy. I play a little basketball before I workout to warm up, but that's pretty much all the cardio I get in. I'm more of a circuit training guy, but I gotta get the weight back on before I can really get back to doing what I want. |

Yea Ive been a low cardio guy for a while now. I play hockey, and get into mens league basketball as often as I can. Otherwise, I just weight train. The last 9 months or so Ive been pyramiding my sets as well, its shown really good results for my strength gains which allows me to push heavier weight in the long haul.

Ok so I've been signed up to a gym for a couple of months now and I'm uber keen to loose weight and build muscle. So far I've gained an inch off my thighs, lost 1.5 off my waist and...sorry boys 2 inches off my bust. It's always the first to go. Now I know how much people hate skinny girls complaining about their weight, but my stomach is going to be toned as a board when I'm done with it. I can even do push ups now with my personal training routine. I can't believe how long I can run for now. And I feel like when I go to the gym my mood picks up big time. Anyone else having success so far? Edit: I want to eat my breakfast off your chest.

To this part "Now I know how much people hate skinny girls complaining about their weight, but my stomach is going to be toned as a board when I'm done with it." I definitely feel where you're coming from. I don't like skinny girls who are just naturally skinny even though they are crazy unhealthy. The untoned stomach is what always gives it away (aside from moms, which is a different story). It's really cool that you're getting to the point that the gym is enjoyable. The hardest part is to get to that point, but once you get there it's incredible. I love that one of my favorite things to do, is one of the best things for me. Especially since all of my other hobbies include sinful debauchery that will probably kill me before my 40th. What kind of routine are you doing? |

****. I need to hit the gym. I'm about to spend a year in the sand box as well so hopefully I can get back into shape then.

I've been doing body weight training exercises every other day, and cardio six days a week (still do cardio on the body weight training days).
As soon as it's possible, I'll be getting a gym membership...because part of my most important cardio is jogging, and I would much rather jog on an indoor track than in the cold or on a treadmill. Today, I'm supposed to go running with my little sister, and figure out my High Intensity Interval Training workout regiment. I'm not in great shape by any means, but the way I feel about an hour after working out until I go to sleep is the best feeling in the world. I wake up still feeling pretty good, workout to the point of near collapse, then ride the afterglow the rest of the day.

I've broken out the dumbbell once again. I hope to get where I was in the summer of 2010. I remember holding a plank for 5 minutes and a side plank for 3 minutes. Then again it was summer. It's so hard to keep it up in the winter. If I had a gym membership, that'd be a completely different story. I could make it a habit to go, have more weights at my disposal, and I wouldn't have the issue of being in the cold. How great it would be.

Already lost seven pounds. I really think a lot of that was just cutting down on sodium and drinking more water, but I'm really only fifteen lbs off my first goal weight...which is the one that I'd be perfectly content with keeping and maintaining, adding some muscle onto it.
I'm so much more energetic and happy lately. Exercise is the best thing ever. I've been doing sets of 50 jumping jacks with 2lb dumbells, dropping the dumbells and jogging in place for five minutes (lots of arms to get the heart rate up), 25 squat lunges, more jogging in place, 100 jumping jacks sans dumbells, more jogging in place, then strength exercises. I wake up feeling well-rested, albeit sore, but exercise comes highly recommended from me. When it's not rainy and gross, I jog, alternating five minutes of jogging and three minutes of walking, and keep going for about half an hour / forty five minutes-ish. EDIT: ****. I think I just sprained my wrist doing jump squats; I slipped in sweat. Went to go to pushups after a quick high knee jog, and my wrist refused and I just collapsed. Typing is getting harder and harder as I type this, because my wrist is stiffening up. Goddammit.

Lately I've been doing a lot of body weight exercises; hindu push-ups and push ups with my feet elevated. The former are nice for an all around upper body work out, while the later really work my shoulders. Lower body wise, lot's of body weight squats & calf raises. If my form is proper on the former the lower portion of my abs get engaged in a pleasant way.
