lots and lots of moves today.... seems more than usual dont ya think?? lots to discuss but just to talk about my falcons, they had a GREAT day!! i love everythin they did!!
-Resigned DT justin babineaux - 3yrs/9M -signed DT pail soliai from miami for 5yrs/33M -signed DE tyson jackson for 5ys/25M -signed OL jon asomoah to 5 yr deal very under the rader, no huge names but ATL needed help in the trenches and we got it!! seems like we overpaid for the DL but hey, ya gotta pay to get players i guess. this also means we can switch to a 34 defense!! we sucked at pass rush the last few yrs so im glad we can switch it up. also it means Atl doesnt want CLowney and i KNOW we really want Khalil mack. Weatherspoon and Mack would be DYNAMITE as a pass rush duo. wooo!! |

Your DL just got significantly better, even if they weren't huge names, both Jackson and Soliai are guys who could easily go to Pro Bowls. 3-4 DL really don't get a lot of credit unless they're freaks like JJ Watt or Dontari Poe. Also fixed the other huge need with Asomoah.
I was hoping the Vikings would get Verner, but at least we ended up with Linval Joseph. Griffen/Robison/Floyd/Joseph is the best DL we've had since '08/'09. I suspect that we'll end up either re-signing Chris Cook to a 1-year deal or going for a bargain option like Nolan Carroll at CB, and I wouldn't be surprised if we traded for Sproles. Not sure we couldn't get someone like him in the draft for cheaper, though. |

i was happy to see the saints release sproles but not happy to see them sign byrd.
falcons priorities: speed rusher (surely they will go get khalil mack in the draft now) safety (they released decoud who made a pro bowl but he sucked honestly) and a big question mark at TE if our 2nd yr guy can be decent. after this yr i believe they gotta pay roddy and julio so im guessin roddy is leavin. after last yrs horrible bad luck injuries and terrible offensive line i think atlanta will fly under the radar this yr but be a great team like they have been for the last 5 or so years. |

Honestly don't think the Saints or Panthers are going to be that good this year. Tampa looks like they're getting set to make a big run with that defense. If they can get some consistency at QB, they're going to be tough.

Carolina will do just fine. I don't think Tampa has a QB that can be consistent. Therefore I think its Doug Martin left DM Right. VJ is a great wideout but they are too soft at QB to make a difference. Agree on that defense being very good.

Carolina will do just fine, but I don't think they should be favored to win the division or anything. They lost easily their best CB, and a vital piece to both their run and pass defense, in Captain Munnerlyn. Their division also got significantly better, while they really didn't do much of anything. If they add Jackson, they might just have a really good offense to counteract the defense they lost, and I still expect them to be at least top-15 defensively. Just saying though, I could definitely see them being a huge letdown, and finishing something like 7-9 or 8-8. |
