Well said, you really can't blame the cornerbacks for giving huge gains to a hobbled Tony Scheffler or for letting the Broncs somehow still manage to get as many rushing yards as they did with their 3rd and 4th string running backs and then even their full back. A linebacker would be a wise decision for a first pick but looking to other first day draft choices they're going to need a running back eventually, Jamal Lewis isn't who he used to be. I think with either quarterback if they can tighten up their defense and find a good young talent (like a Tim Hightower or Chris Johnson) to compliment the bruising of Lewis, we're looking at a playoff team in a couple of years.

I don't think the management of the Browns could pass on picking a defensive player in the first round this year after taking Thomas and Quinn in 07 and with the wealth of talent already on that side of the ball especially in comparison to the defense. Looking from a one game perspective, it looks like they shouldn't have given D.A. that big new contract and having two big name QBs signed for the kind of money they are will probably continue to be a hindrance to signing any more free agents of Shaun Rogers caliber. I don't know it just seems they have a lot to sort out up there and it's not a great time for them to do it with the Steelers continuing their dominance of the division and the Ravens emerging offensive attack to compliment the overrated but still great defense. They're going to have to take out one of those teams if they want to make the playoffs in the future, and the way things are going, I don't really see that happening.

I reckon they wouldn't go too badly with a great DE/LB pass rusher from this draft, and there are plenty of em coming through... Its obvious enough what a great Dline can do by the Giants... Rogers in the middle, rookie DE on the right or OLB goes a fair way to solidifying the D as dac said.
The secondary sucks obviously, but I reckon there will be solid DBs in the 2nd and later rounds... You reckon your guys can turn it around on the back half Christian? Colts still playoff bound? |

1. We're not actually paying Quinn that much money 2. DA's contract is only for 3 years 3. The Browns have plenty of cap space, especially with the oncoming retirements of McGinist and Jureviscius after this season |

I am a Titans fan so I am in heaven this year...I mean Vince Young goes nuts and we start Kerry Collins...Our defense is awesome and our running game is as well...then we still win with only 21 rushing yards against da Bears...I am just waiting for it to all go wrong.
