Lol.

lucifer_sam 08-17-2008 10:56 PM

Srsly it is incredibly gross to listen to this discussion. I dunno bout a swear filter but there should be a "don't post anything that makes your mom shudder" filter.

ProggyMan 08-17-2008 11:06 PM

So, anyone stoked about U.S. B-ball?

lucifer_sam 08-17-2008 11:22 PM

They're pretty much flattening anyone that dared to try to score on them. Didn't we just eliminate the two biggest threats?

ProggyMan 08-17-2008 11:23 PM

Yeh, Lithuania has nowhere near our talent, should be a blowout if we play them, but don't you enjoy watching our third strings blow by the other team's best defender?

lucifer_sam 08-17-2008 11:33 PM

Agreed. Can't say I'm really excited though, seeing as how I don't even watch professional basketball.

ProggyMan 08-17-2008 11:34 PM

Oh...

Son of JayJamJah 08-18-2008 07:35 AM

You guys should have seen the dream team, no one stayed with in 25 points in the first half all tournament. They won several games by 40 plus.

In case you have not looked into the Dream team it was

Leading scorer and MVP Charles Barkley who shot over 70% from the field
The greatest player ever Michael Jordan
The Admiral David Robinson at center
and veterans Magic Johnson and Larry Bird rounding out the starting line-up

When all-time assist and steals leader John Stockton and Magic we're injured MJ slide over to point and Clyde Drexler moved into the starting line-up.

The NBA's 2nd all-time leading scorer Karl Malone, 10 time all-star Patrick Ewing were the back-up posts

Scottie Pippen was the defensive stopper (they never needed) and Chris Mullin was shot 75% from the three point line which was 3 feet closer then the NBA line.

In addition to those 11 NBA's recent Duke graduate and reigning national college player of the year Christian Laetner was added to the team.

Chuck Daly, who won back-to-back NBA titles with Detroit in 89-90 and had recently retired coached the team.

Here are the results

USA 116 Angola 48
USA 103 Croatia 73
USA 111 Germany 68
USA 127 Brazil 83
USA 122 Spain 81
Quarter Finals: USA 115 Puerto Rico 77
Semi-Finals: USA 127 Lithuania 76
Gold Medal Game: USA 117 Croatia 85

Yes the Croatians were considered America's top challenger Drazen Petrovic, Toni Kukoc, Dino Radja, Stojan Vrankovic and Zan Tabak we're all NBA players and a part of that team. The first three we're considered among the top 10 European Players of the decade.

When were you born?

Do you remember the 1988 Soviet team? I believe Sabonis was the top player in the world at that time. Magic and Bird we're begining to break down with injuries. Jordan was still raw and without a title and Sabonis dominated the game in Europe.

adidasss 08-18-2008 01:59 PM

In 82', too young to remember that team, but I do remember Sabonis.

Anywho, congrats to Phelps, absolutely fantastic.

I'd also like to note that I always kinda root for the chinese because I have a feeling they're gonna be expelled from the Party if the fail leaving their poor families with no money or food or something...:|

Alex, you must live near where my parents went to high school; Churchville, Hartford County, because my uncle had his mom as teacher.

Farfisa 08-18-2008 06:35 PM

Naw I live in the Perry Hall...

Who would have thought the Hosting country would make top of the leaderboard. ¬_¬

Double X 08-22-2008 11:07 AM

I don't really care about the olympics...but my I am worried about my mom. She was freaking out when the judges in the female exotic dance or whatever kept giving the chinese girl 'hometown bias'...she said they were influenced by the crowd.

Can anyone clue me in on what competition it was...all I know is that it's some form of dancing and chinese did well.

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-22-2008 11:57 AM

As this is a music forum were any non UK people aware that Damon Albarn & Jamie Hewett did the opening credits for the BBC's Olympic coverage?

adidasss 08-22-2008 12:10 PM

I was. Although I can't imagine that it'd interest people from outside the UK much...

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-22-2008 12:19 PM

I guess it was a long shot expecting to find Damon Albarn fans on a music forum.

adidasss 08-22-2008 12:29 PM

Indeed it was.

Matthew Mitcham is the only openly gay male athlete in the Beijing olympics that has won a golden medal. Congrats to him...for being out and proud and for winning the only non-Chinese golden medal in the diving competition. http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...lpower/yay.gif

Sad that the games end tomorrow ):

ProggyMan 08-23-2008 05:53 PM

Hopefully with a victory the Redeem Team. Shouldn't be a very competitive game...:(

Eh, no big deal really...it's not like it gave him a physical hindrance (it's like when people celebrate the first women to fly around the world). If some German guy won the marathon THAT would be something.

adidasss 08-24-2008 11:16 AM

Well I'm sure it's a big deal for him, and it does help with some visibility issues. Obviously he wasn't the only gay man in the Olympics, but it's a rather disheartening statistic. So big up for him once again, if nothing else, because he was uber cute...(:

More competitive then expected, I am a little disappointed with how few of the Americans great players are even very good shooters let alone great.

ProggyMan 08-24-2008 11:56 AM

The thing is more emphasis is placed on it in International play, so the best shooters aren't role players like they are here.
