And yea Avery can be a twat, but at times I love him. Mostly only when hes playing opposite New Jersey. He's an exciting player to watch but not in a way that the league would want to ever endorse.

But back to faaaarrrr better news, you must have loved watching that game last night. Vancouver played like an offensive team for the first time in years. And not only did Burrows get under your skin, he put two pucks in the back of the net as well. Congratz Jibber, as Vancouver did put out the flames.

Lol at Maple Leafs beating the Red Wings. Almost as awesome as the Pats/Fish matchup earlier this years.

ugh. that was bloody painful to watch. although I think everyone in calgary has just gotten used to the flames playing like ass for the first few games of the season. I have full confidence that they'll pull it together very soon and actually have a good season. We might actually learn how not to choke for this one. And, as it should be, we'll finish ahead of you. You might wanna take note of that statement now, so can conveniently throw it in your face at the end of the season

It was really nice to watch the flames go down embarassingly again. And Rypien lay the smacks on your boys too.

What does everyone else think of ESPN's proposition? They suggested to cut the league down by 8 teams, keep only the northern teams and make conferences American and Canadian (11 teams apiece).

Honestly, I think it would be a bad idea as far as promoting ice hockey goes (hence probably why they won't do it), but as far as competitiveness goes, it's a great idea. I was in Anaheim for the 2006 series and NOBODY in Los Angeles gave a **** about it. Not only, but it certainly improves competitiveness within divisions.

It would bring a certain competitiveness, but at the same time its not like canadian teams are better than everyone. Its us Canadians as players that are better than everyone else.

agreed. canadian teams have a bigger rivalry with eachother than with any american team. Van/Calgary, Calgary/Edmonton, those are the big rivalries. Until the playoffs, we dont ever really hate any american team with the passion that we consistently hate the other canadian teams.

If that happened, candian games would be just as well attended, canadian fans just as passionate about their hockey, and americans still wouldnt give a **** (at least for the most part). I mean hell, most of buffalo's fans are from ontario.

Thought this might be interesting to people: the new hockey night in canada theme has been announced. It's not bad at all, not nearly as good as the old one though, but hey, thats probably me just being nostalgic.
