I read a stat today that said the LA Kings as a franchise are 70-7 in game 7's.
That's insane. And im cheering for Chicago because theyre more fun to watch. LA is probably the better team though. |

I wanted the Kings for the sole reason that it can build the SoCal fanbase, if the NHL can become more competitive with the NBA teams in the #2 market in US/Canada that only helps the league, and the healthier the league, the better the chances of getting a team here.
I recognize that's a convoluted stretch of logic but I stand by it. :P |

I'd like to say Kings in 5 based on what I've seen from both teams, but it's just so rare to see a one-sided Cup Final lately (since those 4 straight sweeps in the 90s, there have been 0 4-game series, 2 5-game series, 6 6-game series, and 6 7-game series). I'll say Kings in 6 as well.

As much as my brain tells me LA has this in the bag, Ill say Rangers win the cup for no reason other than 7 game series are basically a crap shoot. And if theres any wild card in this series its goaltending, which i think the rangers have the obvious advantage in.

^ a hot goalie can take you a long way. I remember in '91 Jon Casey took a very average Minnesota North Stars team all the way to the finals, where they finally lost to Super Mario's Penguins. Lundqvist is on that kind of roll, and the Rangers have a lot more offense than that North Stars team. I'm still taking the Kings though, Quick isn't playing at the level he was in '12 but he's still pretty solid in goal (yes the defending champs did get to him a little) and they have so much firepower. It is out of respect for Lundqvist that I'm picking six games.
