Crosby's backchecking is just so bad on that play that it should be blurred out. Maybe he forgot that this isn't the Olympics anymore and Marleau is no longer his teammate |

WHL West playoff standings (see attached). Seeds 1, 2, and 3 are pretty much set, as are 7 & 8. Kelowna will play Tri-Cities in the first round, Portland will play Vancouver. Victoria will play whoever ends in the 6 seed. The interesting element is that Seattle, Spokane and my Silvertips could end up in any seed from 4 to 6. Everett has a HUGE game in Spokane tonight that could clear up the picture or make it even murkier, especially if the Tips win.

YES! Tips win in Spokane for the 1st time in over 4 years! Any of those three teams could finish in 4th, 5th, or 6th seeds now.

I am so fucking proud of my Silvertips.
It was only a few weeks ago that the thought process was if the Tips could hold off Tri-Cities and Prince George for the 8th and final playoff seed. It was only two weeks ago that we started to entertain the idea that maybe, just maybe we could catch Vancouver and play Victoria in the first round instead of Portland. Not that the Royals are an easy matchup, they are a fine team but NO ONE wants to play Portland right now, even top ranked Kelowna. Then, we started to think that we might even be able to catch Spokane, get the 5 seed, and play the hated Thunderbirds in the first round (I call them the Funderbirds, as in Thuck the Funderbirds, it's a spoonerism) Last night we were at the final regular season home game for '13-14, against the Victoria Royals. Carson Stadnyk scored the go head goal with just over a minute left, and the Tips held on in front of a raucous full house to secure their 9th straight win, every one against playoff-level teams and even a win over CHL-leading Kelowna, and with one game left find themselves in in the FOURTH seed, and if they hold on tonight will have HOME ICE over the Funderbirds! WOOT! Spokane has no more regular season games, they finish in the 6 seed and will play Victoria. Seattle and Everett finish the regular season on the road tonight, Everett in Portland, Seattle at Tri-Cities. They will face each other in the playoffs, home ice will be determined tonight. Everett win, or Seattle loss, Tips are the 4 seed & the series starts in Comcast Arena in downtown Everett. Everett loss AND Seattle win, or Everett regulation loss and Seattle OT loss, Seattle is the 4 seed and the series starts in Showare Center in Kent. Forgive me, I know this means little to most of you, but I'm extremely proud of the Tips and wanted to say so. |
