Big move in VanCity, with Lou finally being dealt. Its unfortunate, I always loved Lou and looked forward to him as our number one for the foreseeable future. BUT, Id at least say Gillis did a fair job on the return...better than some of the rumblings at the end of the last trade deadline. I look forward to two young Swedish goalies pushing eachother. Lack has proved himself a solid NHL goalie so far in his small NHL resume. Shawn Matthias could be a solid 3rd line center for the future...big body, reasonably good offensive upside. I remember watching him win gold with Canada in the 08 WJHC alongside beauties like Tavares, Stammer, Giroux and Doughty.

I have mixed feelings about Luongo, he had incredible skill but could go through streaks when he'd lose focus. I still shudder when I think of him saying that Thomas needed to learn basic goaltending from him in the '11 finals, only to see the series blow up in his face. But when he was on Luongo was as good as anyone

Silvertips just MAULED the Kelowna Rockets last night, Kelowna has the best record in all the CHL and Everett just beat 'em like they stole something. We are now one thin point behind Spokane for the fifth playoff seed, which would set up a series with the hated Seattle Thunderbirds.

All this after being very close to missing the playoffs altogether.

Looks like Patrick Marleau was too much to handle for Crosby and Malkin had a derp moment.

Oh man. That pretty much made my day, lol.

Crosby's backchecking is just so bad on that play that it should be blurred out. Maybe he forgot that this isn't the Olympics anymore and Marleau is no longer his teammate

Oh damn. I'm glad he seems to be okay. That reminds me of when Jiri Fischer collapsed on the bench from cardiac arrest a few years ago.

WHL West playoff standings (see attached). Seeds 1, 2, and 3 are pretty much set, as are 7 & 8. Kelowna will play Tri-Cities in the first round, Portland will play Vancouver. Victoria will play whoever ends in the 6 seed. The interesting element is that Seattle, Spokane and my Silvertips could end up in any seed from 4 to 6. Everett has a HUGE game in Spokane tonight that could clear up the picture or make it even murkier, especially if the Tips win.

Go Tips!
