Yeah, arguing over defensive play is actually kind of ridiculous. It's all about how we watch them and it's completely subjective. At least with offensive ability you can reference certain stats and whatnot. I really don't put all that much stock in the advanced defensive stats.

We're Canadians god dammit we'll debate about hockey all day haha!

I've been getting more and more into the advanced stats part of hockey, which i find incredibly interesting and useful. Most of what I believe of subban (or any player really) has roots in their possession stats. I think it's very predicable of how well they play offensively and defensively.

^ Fair enough. I'm big on the eye test when it comes to D. Just can't fully trust those advanced stats. They can tell you something to a degree, but in no way tell the whole story. Too many variables that you just have to witness for yourself on the ice.

Ugly game between the Bruins and Penguins. What Thornton did was inexcusable and he should be gone 10+, but Neal should be getting more than 5 games for what he did to Marchand. Then to top it off you have Dupuis swinging his stick like a madman and breaking Kelly's ankle. I really can't stand that franchise. Everything they do rubs me the wrong way. I'm fine with the Orpik hit on Eriksson though.

Injuries are starting to pile up for the Bruins, but on the plus side, I'm getting to see the emergence of Kevan Miller. I've been blown away at how good he's been. I've never seen a defenseman step in and be as solid as he has been right away. Granted, he is older than usual to be making his debut, but he's been excellent for having no experience. It's a shame that he could be out from a Phaneuf cheapshot.

Well I mean advanced stats is just a product of the eye test. But hockey analytics are still in the early stages and I agree that it doesnt tell the full story. But they are useful.

Agree on everything you said about the pens-bruins game. Horrible all around. Id be ok if both Neal and Thornton got huge suspensions, but I guess Shanahan has a different view since Neal will sit for 5 or less.

The people that are victim blaming Orpik for not fighting earlier are scumbags too. And for some reason there are a lot of them.

I had to replace a blown tire this week, cost me $150 & the only way for me to "pay" for it is not going to the Silvertips games. Vancouver is in Everett tonight and I'm stuck with listening to it on the radio, and it's a great game.

I hate my car.
