Rex is retiring, Marchand is an RFA, and Kaberle and Ryder are UFA's. Other than that, everyone else is signed. Kaberle, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. I'm kind of indifferent to Ryder. He can be great at times, but is very inconsistent. I wouldn't say no to something like $2-2.5 million though. Marchand is obviously a must sign, and I can't even begin to imagine what he'll make. Could be $2 million, could be $3 million with that run. I'm also assuming Savard will retire.

So, if Savard retires, Marchand resigns at $3 million, you include Seguin's bonuses, and Ryder and Kaberle walk, that would leave:

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-X
Peverley-Kelly-Seguin
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Chara-Seidenberg
Ference-Boychuk
McQuaid-X

Thomas
Rask

With just over $10 million to fill in the two X's. Although I wouldn't advise it because Krejci and Rask will be up for new contracts next year, you could go after Richards at about $7 million and still sign a solid top 4 defenseman as well.

Peverley-Richards-Seguin
Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Kelly
Paille-Campbell-Thornton
Everybody has visions of repeating. Ain't gonna happen.

The problem is that the cap going up to $63+ million benefits everyone (except maybe the Panthers, for which a cap is irrelevant).

There are lots of great teams with a competitive core who will do some retooling.

And who doesn't have visions of signing a top 4 defenseman? Go to capgeek.com and play with the calculators.

Looks like Lidstrom is back (at $6.2 million) so oh, hey, hello there Mr. Shea Weber.... Welcome!

For the record - Kaberle did pretty well in the playoffs, he has one of the best shots in the league, and he's a stand up guy.

Any team should be happy to have him as longs as the price tag is right.

Carter and Richards sent elsewhere. Its a sad day to be a Philly fan. That said, it'll be nice to actually be able to see Richards play more now that he's on the west coast as well...and Im happy for Rick Nash because he actually has someone who can play on a line with him.

Kings just got a whole heck of a lot scarier. I'd say Lombardi's group is a legitimate Cup favorite at this point. Richards for Simmonds, Schenn and a pick is a steal if I've ever seen one, and as for the Columbus deal I don't like Carter having Nash as a setup man. IMO even with Carter the BJ's are still not that much of a contender.

I dont think they are either. In theory Rick Nash would strive with another playmaking forward. Someone like Thornton or something. Carter is a pure scorer for the most part, but that said when you pair two players of that caliber together, good things will happen and their games will kinda mold into the roles necessary.

What the hell, Philly. All this for Bryzgalov, and then you way overpay for him???

I could understand doing a massive overhaul for a sure-thing goalie like Lundqvist, but Bryzgalov seems like a bit of a headcase.

The Kings look scary right now. That top 6 will be a handfull.

Penner-Kopitar-Williams (even though I don't think he played with these two last year)
Smyth-Richards-Brown (this line would wreak havoc).

And it's good for Columbus to finally get that center, but how will the dynamic between Nash and Carter work? Both are shoot-firts powerforwards. Maybe they could go after a passing winger like Hemsky. I still really like Johansen too, I think he's one of the best prospects there is; not sure if they'll bring him up next year though.

Philly way overreacted. A season removed from an OT Finals Game 7 and they sell off assets. I think the Bryz signing is a reactionary move to counter the Timmy Thomases of the World. Of course, their team still looks pretty decent, and they could still make a run at Brad Richards, but.... REALLY?!

And you had to ship Mike to LA?! Team is stacked...
