There is clear precedent (actually with the video Thrice posted). Whether it happens in the playoffs or regular season should not matter. If a guy hacks a guy in the face does he get more lenient treatment because it was in the Final?
And it's not like Bergeron jammed his hand down his throat. It looked like a pretty routine facewash and one of his fingers got caught there. And even if his hand was in his mouth, he can't use the free hand to push him away?(which subsequently was used to try to mask his bite if you watch it)? He has to bite like a pre-schooler? And lastly, if the NHL came out and said something like, "We don't think that Burrows' bite warrants a suspension.", I still would have been pissed off, but not as much as I am now. The NHL blatantly said that they couldn't find evidence of him biting. Yeah, that video. The NHL could not find anything to support biting in that. So really it isn't so much a question of whether biting warrants a suspension but it's about the NHl completely ignoring the obvious bite. Complete bull****. |

That hit on Thorton was just insane. Good on them for giving Rome the game miscondust. Looked intentional, just uncalled for.

Of course the hit was unintentional and for sure worthy of a 2 minute minor for interference or charging. And if he gets up and skates to the bench, thats probably what happens. Clean shoulder to chest, just too late.

And how about Claude Julien saying none of his players would ever stoop as low as Lapierre and put their fingers in front of a players face...Their Vet and their Star did it tonight. Regardless of the win, they're gonna get a little carving from the coach for embarassing him in front of a few million people.

It was not deliberate. It was a case of one had his head down and wasn't looking at the puck and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Looking at the replay again, I do not think it was intentional now. Stuff like that has happened before, always gotta keep your head up at all times and know what is around you.
I do agree with the biting, when i see it more. Not because he bit him, but because of the fact that, as much as I wanna see Vancouver win the cup... I would not like to see them winning it while disrespecting the leauge and making a mockery of the game and themselves. You had Alex Burrows biting Patrice Bergeron in game 1, and Maxim Lapierre taunting Bergeron in game two. These things just make Vancouver look like dicks. I mean I know it is the finals and both teams are going to up the anti of the game, egos get high and what not, but there are better ways to handle things, and better ways to use psychology.
