And the Oscar Robertson comparison is fair, but the BIG O did average a triple double over a season which is one feat that will never be repeated. The NBA has never been better the athleticism just continues to grow every year. If your gonna give it up merely for rings then Bill Russell has gotta be in this conversation, the best defender ever, sorry Dennis Rodman. |

How about that DAL vs. LAL Game 1 finish? That was exciting to watch.

Dirk is just so unstoppable, I don't think there will ever be a player like him again. It's seriously beautiful to watch him go to work with his million different moves. Phil Jackson, I love the guy but he fucked up at the end. Why on earth did he have Bynum and Gasol both in the game?? There was plenty of time left and Odom clearly has the best shot at stopping Dirk. NO WAY Gasol can play Dirk on the perimeter. It just made no sense at all to me why Phil had Bynum and Gasol both playing. Also, GREAT no-call when Kobe tripped after the Dirk foul shots. I was sure they were gonna call a foul and I probably woulda chucked my remote through my TV cause I hate when refs take over games like that. Kobe got a great look at the end too, I thought he was gonna sink it. CRAZY 2nd round so far. Thunder, Bulls, and Lakers all lose game 1 at home. |

the lakers completely choked to end that one. really painful to watch. I expect game 2 to be a blowout.
good games on tonight. I see the celtics winning a close one and the same for the thunder.

Lakers will beat the Mavs. I think Kobe goes off for a monster game. There's no way they lose both games in LA to start the series and it means so much more to them than the Mavs. I think this series is destined for 7 games. Mavs are better than they have been the past few years. Chandler's size and athleticism really helps in the paint and Jason Kidd continues to get it done. Terry is so under rated, he has the best fast break-pull up game in the league and just turns it on when he has to. I really think the Mavs could win this series. I think Heat win game 2 too. I think their role guys feel so much more comfortable at home and it was huge for them to get the 2 seed instead of the 3. Wade and LeBron each can go off for a monster game, but I think someone like James Jones or Miller will step up to give them 20 again. The Heat have looked different in the playoffs and i think they are just feeding off all the negativity and hate they got all season. They want the ring as much as anyone. eric, what did you think about the Pierce ejection? That fuckin pissed me off. I hate how in the playoffs especially the refs blow their damn whistle anytime anything is even said. There is nothing Pierce coulda said that warranted his ejection. Cmon refs, its the fuckin playoffs. Swallow your whistles a little bit and let the big boys play. |

Passing of the torch in the NBA?
Spurs dynasty looks about done. Lakers down 3-0, Celtics down 2-0 and both of their windows are closing. Unbelievable Lakers-Mavs game tonight. Mavericks just keep firing away. Great gameplan by Dallas all series. Instead of worrying about not being able to matchup with the Lakers bigs, they put pressure on LA to try and match up with their guards. So many shooters, they just kept firing threes. Where was Kobe tonight? Biggest game of the year and he looked tentative. He didn't want it like I thought he would. Passing the ball late without even looking for his shot. Very unaggressive game by Kobe. Can't believe Lakers are probably gonna get swept. |

well, when he has fired away to great effect in prior games against dallas, they lost. I'm guessing he received a clear message from phil: share the wealth and score efficiently. though 17pts on 50% and 6ast is hardly Kobe-like.
questioning Kobe's desire? I thought better of you. they won't be swept, but they aren't winning down 3-0. the goat here is undoubtedly Gasol. his playoff averages are something like 12-13pts and 6-7reb on 40%~ shooting. the amount of yelling matches between Pau and Phil throughout these playoffs has been astonishing. Phil usually never loses his cool, instead choosing to snidely mutter thinly-veiled slights. that and we have gotten terrible bench production. I mean, we would have had all three games if we had gotten anything from someone other than Odom. they have all been that close. every 3 they took this series I wish would've been a post-entry pass. no one can shoot consistently other than Kobe. they have never really fully utilized their advantage down low(during these last few years). they should be going to one of the three bigs on at least 70% of possessions. also, they have been little bitches on the glass throughout these playoffs. during the last few postseasons, at least two bigs had like 12+ per game. what's really strange is that LA's most consistent players these playoffs have been Kobe and BYNUM. oh well, I think they would've lost to the MoHeatos in the finals anyway... /rant PS: The Celtics haven't been the same since they dumped Perkins, and I really think it's had a huge effect on Rondo's game. the Spurs have been pretenders since Duncan stopped being an elite player(last season, hell they were swept by the Suns last year).

I am interested to see what Shaq does tonight. I guarantee a flagrant foul out of him. His role in this series is seriously going to be knocking Wade and bron bron to the ground. I think these next few games are gonna have a lot of shoving matches, technical and flagrant fouls, and maybe some ejections.
I can't help but question Kobe's will and it's the first and most likely last time I will ever do it. But watching the end of that game, Kobe wanted no part of scoring. It wasn't like he was driving and kicking to teammates. He was passing the ball from the beginning, not even looking for his own shot. Gasol has been bad, but as usual there is always some other scapegoat and Kobe doesn't get any blame. 17 quiet points in the biggest game of the year?? 1 foul shot I think, which just shows how unaggressive he was for some reason. Props to Bynum. He would be an all-star stud on any other team and hardly gets any chances on the Lakers but he's played great. And honestly I don't think Phil has coached a great series either. |
