Wow you did get close to him, nice job. He's a mighty handsome little cat too. I bet it took a lot of patience. Yes it most certainly is not easy getting a decent shot since they are usually so skittish. I had a heck of a time getting him to sit still in front of that blue wall and turning those bright yellow eyes toward me.
