And after a castle.........a palace. A Royal Palace. Last Friday night:

I tried to apply the so-called rule of thirds. That is, the building at the upper third (more or less).

I don't know what "role" the puddle plays here (if it plays any "role"), but the thing is that there was a puddle at that moment, and it's at the lower third. Actually, that wasn't intentional. I was going to take the photo anyway.

I also like the colors. It's like "silver and gold" or something like that.

Haha, the rule of thirds doesn't really work for this picture.
I'd go
1/3rd: Sky
1/3rd: castle
1/3rd: Ground
Now there's an awful lot of ground if you ask me.
Nice lighting, very nice.
Pity about the little spot of light on the left, coming from a streetlight.

All in all a very nice picture to look at

Why not start your own thread entitled S_K Critiques Your Photos.
so if anybody wants you to do that they post in that one, if they don't they post in this one.

Problem solved.

Oi, David Bailey...allow me to explain how this works in real life.
Calm down with the critiques. You assume all your comments are welcome.
I for one don't want to read a "pro tip" every time I come in here to have a gander at what some of the members have posted. It's irritating!

That helps.

I'll stop commenting then .
If anyone wants a comment on the technical bit of the photo, just ask.

Yeah, I know. But at night the sky is black. Dark as Devil's soul, you know...

So we could say:

1/3rd: Palace
1/3rd: Smooth pavement
1/3rd: Cobbled pavement + puddle

Circumstances, man, circumstances. Circumstances are everything. At night, I need a surface to rest the camera on. And there only were bollards there. You know, one of these:

So perspective was determined by a bollard's location.
