Absolutely wonderful. So jealous of the fall colors you have in Seattle. You used to live in Houston, so you know pretty much the only colors we have are green and dead.

Can I use the one looking up into the trees as my desktop picture? Purty please?

I'll share a few of my favourite images from Ireland/Scotland 2009.

Blarney Castle, early morning.

Peace Needle in Dublin in the evening of St. Pat's.

Tramore, Ireland.

General Post Office, Dublin, Ireland.

Cork, Ireland at night.

Stone dock at Larne, Northern Ireland.

O'Brien's watchtower, Cliffs of Mohr, Ireland.

Glasgow Cathedral window.

I had taken many more photos in Scotland, but my camera's memory card crashed halfway through the trip, and I lost nearly all of them.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Tramore, Ireland.
Gorgeousness!

So, I'm wanting to buy a fancy camera since I'm into photography, and will be useful when I go into design. But which is better: Nikon or Canon? Is it all about preference?

I'm not sure.
Everytime I say that I prefer Canon way over Nikon, people tell me that I should shut the **** up and that it's all about preference.
But with the affordable Nikons (D50, D80) I always see the same problem: They can't handle contrast, there's always hot spots on the pictures, faces are blodded out... I can't understand why other people don't see the problem.
The D40 and D70 though are pretty nice.
But with the D300, the problem is back once again.
Thus, no Nikon for me.
But I do like the affordable pentaxes, they make really nice pictures.
And there's not much wrong with the 3-digit EOS series of Canon either, affordable SLR's with great picture quality.
I am disappointed by the Sony Alpha series and never felt much for Olympus and Minolta.

I think Fuji and Panasonic are quite good with Pocket Camera's, but I suppose you were looking for a serious camera.

But there's just one way to find out
Steves Digicams - Digital Camera Reviews, Camera News, and Photography Information
Compare the sample images .

I myself have an EOS 30D and a Powershot SX200IS.
I also have an old Fujifilm S5000 that's still impressively good for an 8 year old camera.
I mean, these pictures were taken from quite a distance with that old camera and bad lighting:

It's the perfect concert camera.
Riggid, cheap to buy (about 50 dollars overhere) and absolutely reliable.

Ah well, I'm getting carried away. You get the point.
