My first makeshift panoramic. A bit sloppier. From a road trip in 2006. Lake Tahoe, California.

I'm not sure what the earliest version of Photoshop is that has it but if you have Photoshop then go to File > Automate > Photomerge and it will make the panorama for you. Then just crop off the weird edges

Here are my latest photos, taken with my cell, without looking:

And then we parked at the side of the road, and we were able to officially take some pictures:

^I like to insert in my photos people that are themselves capturing the same scenery.

^ I think it's obvious we were above the clouds.

ElephantSack 12-28-2009 05:27 AM

#9 - Very nice. You know, there's not any landscapes that I've seen that I can say really looks like that. Different things remind me of different places, but seeing them all in the same landscape is kind of surreal.

Carnwll - The weird edging is actually one of the things I like about it. The whole sloppy feel to me makes it seem like three separate photos were dropped on the ground, and the way they fell onto each other just made the picture like it is.

Didn't know it was that unusual, but taking these pix I noticed that I really miss taking landscape photos.
I think I'll also upload some of my 'ancient' work.

FETCHER. 12-28-2009 04:49 PM

Thats awesome you took a photo from above the clouds, I love the very last one. It's awesome! :D

LeDiz 12-28-2009 05:22 PM

Haha yeah it reminds me of Tiesto's song - Walking on Clouds. :)

NumberNineDream 12-28-2009 05:27 PM

^ We were kinda tempted to do it. :P

Sorry for the shitty phone quality.

NumberNineDream 01-01-2010 02:17 PM

Sunny?
Anyway, that first one is really cool, great snowy landscape.

FETCHER. 01-01-2010 02:17 PM

Haha I was being sarcastic :o:

NumberNineDream 01-01-2010 02:23 PM

Well that second one does look blindingly sunny.

FETCHER. 01-01-2010 02:31 PM

I think the 3rd even more so. :)

NumberNineDream 01-01-2010 02:44 PM

So is that supposed to be the same place on the second and third photo, but the last with literally zero visibility ?

FETCHER. 01-01-2010 02:55 PM

No they're different places, the first one is just behind the trees in the second. And the third is where my sister stays. :)

NumberNineDream 01-01-2010 02:58 PM

I'm totally imagining you walking on those snowy rides with your high heels going to the pub lol. I guess a white Christmas does look a bit overrated.

FETCHER. 01-01-2010 03:01 PM

I almost died walking through a car park trying to get to the house party I was going to. Not fun

Astronomer 01-01-2010 03:10 PM

kayleigh, you have no idea how jealous I am, those photos are beautiful! I want to live there!

FETCHER. 01-01-2010 03:18 PM

We could arrange a swap if you like :D?

You know I'd take that offer in a heartbeat if I could! :)

Here's a photograph I took a few days ago which I think turned out pretty cool. It's actually looking down a bong.

http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/s...ate/5jvfcz.jpg

NumberNineDream 01-02-2010 06:20 AM

Pretty cool! It does look trippy enough, truly bong material lol.

FETCHER. 01-02-2010 06:36 AM

Ha, that is so cool! It looks top! And for the swap thing, if it were possible/easy I'd do it too! Haha.

LoathsomePete 01-05-2010 04:33 PM

Here are a few photos from my trip to Vancouver, more to come.

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/20...tangrypoet.jpg

Here's one of the Vancouver downtown skyline at sunset, I wish I had a better camera and that the power lines weren't there, but alas.

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/i/20...tangrypoet.jpg

Here's the downtown harbor control centre on a foggy Boxing Day.

FETCHER. 01-05-2010 04:34 PM

Wow. Just wow. That must have been a million times more beautiful in reality than it is in those photos. I'm so jealous! :(

Astronomer 01-05-2010 04:39 PM

Vancouver seems amazing, I want to go there!

LoathsomePete 01-05-2010 05:16 PM

Yeah it really is an amazingly beautiful city, I am interested to see how it's going to be thought of after February.

why would your/peoples thoughts change on the city? Are you moving there? :)

Astronomer 01-05-2010 05:49 PM

Yeah, why after February?

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 01-05-2010 06:45 PM

because of our beloved winter olympics.

Oh yeah that's right! Seen ads leading up to it on television and such.

In February the 2010 Winter Olympics start and Vancouver is the host city. It's all I heard about while I was up there, but the funny thing was almost all of it was negative. Nobody I know is looking forward to having to try and work and live when 20 bajillion foreigners come to town. A few people I know are actually planning on going out of town for either the full 16 days or as much of it as they can get off/ afford. A lot of the public servants who are being given special pins, vests, hats, etc. to wear during the two weeks are fogging it on ebay to make a little extra cash and make a point. It's a very controversial issue (and for good reason) because Vancouver is a very beautiful city with a very ugly underbelly which a lot of the world doesn't know about. Anyways, I went off on a bit of a tangent there, here's a few more pictures:

http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._6785586_n.jpg

http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs228...._4903048_n.jpg

I think this was the one that was fully zoomed in. I wish I had a more powerful camera with at least 10 mega pixels, but I'm really starting to warm up to this one.

http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._6086139_n.jpg

Took this one out on the back deck in the morning while out having a smoke.

http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._4811260_n.jpg

Canada Place... not quite as cool looking as Sydney's Symphony Hall, but still cool in it's own way.

I have fond memories of that place

Astronomer 01-05-2010 07:04 PM

Pete, yeah I guess I can understand that. I was in Syndey when we hosted the Olympic games in 2000 and it was so ridiculously crowded and busy and not enjoyable.

We've been hearing about the Winter games a lot over here, too, I just didn't click that Vancouver was the host town! It also always seems odd to me when we're in the middle of summer

NumberNineDream 01-05-2010 07:10 PM

All I heard about it was all the fuss Colbert was doing about being the sponsor of the skating team... tho he's doing real great winter Olympic special.
And I'm pretty sure I'll be watching the Olympics daily... tho I don't think I'll be much excited to see them live, but I'm sure the opening should be great.

Yeah that's what I was thinking when I saw the picture. Two years ago when they were still building the Shangri-La (the really tall building) there would be this really cool skeleton look as the sunlight penetrated each floor. My friend who lives in that apartment took a picture, but I don't think he has it anymore.

New Amsterdam Cafe is still there, but I've never been. I feel more comfortable smoking pot somewhere closer to home.

Isn't the Australian Open happening near Melbourne?
