That Cheech and Chong one is one of my all-time faves. What a fantastic hook!

In the movie If, the protagonist makes an unlikely selection on a jukebox and that becomes the soundtrack:-

There are so many movies about performers, where the soundtrack is er diegetic. Here are a couple that Psy-Fi seems to have missed:-

........Not just up and down, but side to side Mien Herr"

Watching The Wailing and while I don't like it that much so far, I've gotta say that the exorcism scenes are awesome. Mainly because of the amazing percussive music. I have to check out whether this is in any way genuine korean shamanistic music. I need more of that.

Well, that took me to a pretty strange YouTube clip, grindy, but, yes, with some emotive, stirring drumming.

This is a great topic. I can't think of many relevant examples to add, but the scene in the opening of The Magdalene Sisters where the guy with the bodhran is singing "The Well Below the Valley" during a wedding (quite an odd song choice for a wedding..) is amazing and incredibly haunting.
