My top five favorite movies are my favorite partially because of the soundtracks.
Aliens, The Prince of Egypt, Anastasia, The Fifth Element, Forrest Gump. There's also The Dark Crystal, Aladdin, The Lion King, The Godfather.

One of the best has gotta be the Blues Brothers movie soundtracks for me - but not for those particular recordings, but to prompt me to dig out the old originals of the songs they do. Some great choice of numbers in those movies.
Better still - Good Morning Vietnam, which has all the original songs, but as a Brit I'm not really into the story. |

Best Movie soundtrack of all time - the one from the film PIRATE RADIO (The Boat that Rocked)
Just sheer magic, every single track. The film is a great story, though it was slated because its not historically correct, but the music just brings it alive. Great vibes. |

The Silence of the Lambs score was what made me even consider listening to film scores. It's gorgeous. Then Psycho is, of course, a classic and for good reason.
I also really like Pet Sematary, which is strange because it's quite dissonant, I've never seen the movie, and it's a ripoff of The Amityville Horror. |
