i have to agree this is a really solid compilation....
i'm curious LothsomePete....do you randomly select the order or listen to the track and create the mix accordingly? this one and last months were done very well so i'm pretty sure of two Rosetta - LothsomPete Tangerine Dream - Dankrsta |

Normally I listen to everything ahead of time and then figure out which order they will go in, but I couldn't be arsed this time. I'm glad that my laziness hasn't come back to bite my ass and yes Rosetta was me, a fitting (but obvious) choice.
edit: Also you're correct, Tangerine Dream was indeed Dankrsta |

The Galilean Satellites (2005) is a superb addition to the growing Post-Metal scene. It was actually a double album with one CD containing the metallic songs, and the other one featuring mostly ambient noise. You were then suppose to play both albums in sync, but I grabbed a digital version where both were already meshed, that's how they got such a deeply layered sound.

I have to say that the Rosetta track is indeed one of the stronger ones on the compilation. So that's post-metal? I think I just found what kind of metal I like. That's it, noisy and with vocals drowned in the walls of sound. Yep!
My guess is: Screeching Weasel - bob.

^^Oh yes, but I have to admit I didn't even think of it. And I'm actually quite surprised that nobody sent Pink Floyd - Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun. I wanted to submit that one, but I was almost sure somebody had already sent it. Guess not

I had a few other choices but figured everybody already knows Pink Floyd, what's the point. I like using these comps as a way of exposing people to bands they may not have heard before.
I also added a poll for which song best represents the theme. |
