I was going to suggest Get Hurt by No Age but I'll have to upload it to youtube. Not that I strongly disagree with Japanther but I feel there could be a better fit since I feel the tracks more on the garage rock side.

All are added and Indie Rock has officially been changed from Sonic Youth to Dinosaur Jr. Thanks for the submissions, keep em coming!

NICE choice! I have a feeling we'll be seeing much more of him when we do art music.

No need to upload to YouTube. Let me clarify that as long as I can go back and find the song later (i.e. it isn't a song your friend recorded and I can't get my hands on), all you need to post is the title and artist.

Alright then,

No Age - Get Hurt - Noise Pop
Lightning Bolt - Saint Jacques - Noise Rock

The spots for Noise Pop and Noise Rock are currently occupied by 'Radical Businessman' by Japanther and Sonic Youth - Stereo Sanctity respectively. I'll second you on changing Noise Rock to Lighting Bolt, but you'll have to get someone to back you up on Noise Pop or discuss it with Violent & Funky, who submitted it.

Hmm, that's interesting. I'm sure the term Noise Rock covers a great variety of bands and God Bullies are certainly one of them. But I don't agree that Sonic Youth is not because of their artistic approach. You mean their use of atonality and dissonance inspired by avant-garde music? Maybe better example in that case would be something from 'Confusion Is Sex'. I see Noise Rock as a scene that grew out of No Wave initially, but more importantly, to me noise in rock are not just distorted, dirty sounds, but atonality and dissonance also.

Maybe we should meet half way and suggest Big Black?

^ Right now it's at Lightning Bolt. Which I think is a pretty good example because they're basically an extreme of their genre.

bob. 09-24-2010 01:07 PM

extreme is an understatement :)

actually i completely agree i guess what i was trying to say is that i feel Sonic Youth kind breaks out of typical "Noise Rock" and presents something more
