Dntel - Rock My Boat hmmm there's a lot of things this could be classified as easy listening, electronic, modern folk, i'll let you choose
Boduf Songs - Quiet When Group neofolk, because it's dark, creepy and beautiful |
All added except for the first song you suggested SB. Don't know what to classify it as. I'm sure the Alternative Rock tag will be snatched up quite quick (and as cliche a choice it might be, I'd personally like to see Smells Like Teen Spirit occupy that spot, but I won't claim it).
I'll be taking the Grunge category, however, with this timeless classic. |

So um... what happens when folks have disagreements about whether a song should represent a sub-genre?
Doesn't seem like this should be strictly a first-come-first-serve thing, considering what it is. |
To quote article A, section B.

Afrobeat: Fela Kuti - Expensive Shit
This is really wonderful stuff. Just discovered this guy today during my research of Afrobeat music. Seems to combine a lot of my favorite elements of Ghana Highlife, jazz, and funk together. |
Noise pop:
'Radical Businessman' by Japanther Indie rock: 'Teen Age Riot' by Sonic Youth Desert rock: 'Green Machine' by Kyuss Funk metal: 'Violent & Funky' by Infectious Grooves (duh) Progressive metal: 'Schism' by Tool Pop punk: 'Dammit' by blink 182 Primus: (they get their own genre) 'Tommy the Cat' by Primus I'd also like to submit that folk punk be a genre: 'Tanks! Tanks! Tanks!' by Defiance, Ohio |
