Oh, so you mean we should also give suggestions for overall types of music, like Rock, Jazz, Avant-Garde regardless of their sub-genres.

Then for Avant-Garde I suggest Karlheinz Stockhausen - Mikrophonie

He's known as one of the first that experimented with electronic music. I guess John Cage could also represent overall avant-garde music, but since I already submitted him for experimental, I'll go with Stockhausen.

Neu! - Negativland for Kraut-Rock (which is not on the list and really should be)

Stockhausen has been accepted to define Avant-Garde! :)

Agreed, dankrsta. Artist and genre added. Also, Dr.Suessicide - added that Cardiacs tune to Psychedelic Pop.

The Bullet 09-24-2010 06:58 PM

Hard Rock- Guns 'N Roses- Rocket Queen

Spoiler for disclaimer:
They have better songs, but none of them are really hard rock (November Rain, Estranged, Coma, Civil War anyone?)

Anyways, back on topic.

Added. I'm submitting this little number to the Post-Grunge group.

*chills*

Honky Tonk
Hank Williams - Lovesick Blues

nobody could Honky Tonk like Hank....except for maybe his grandson

Country Rock
Supersuckers - The Supersucker Drive By Blues

self claiming "greatest Rock band in the world"....always with a country twang

Alternative hip hop (would this be the same as underground?)
Molemen ft. Slug,Aesop Rock, and MF DOOM - Put Your Quarter Up

it features three of the bigger "alternative" mc's

Political Hip Hop
Sage Francis - Makeshift Patriot

i think pretty much anybody whose into political hip hop at least knows this song well

Dance pop
Dee Lite - Groove Is In The Heart

makes me want to dance....

Electropop
Kraftwerk - Music Non Stop

its Kraftwerk....

Industrial Metal
Ministry - So What

this is one of those songs that got me into music

Punk Rock
X - Your Phone Is Off The Hook, But You're Not

i just think the entire album "Los Angeles" is a perfect example off the "punk" sound....and this is the opening track
