I actually discover a lot of songs from shows rather than movies.

We Used to Be Friends - The Dandy Warhols (The O.C.....don't judge)

There are tons more that I know I can't remember right now

From watching the movie Rock Star i discovered a lot of songs and bands. For example the song "We All Die Young" by Steelheart.
Also i discovered the song "Africa" by Toto through the tv-series Scrubs.
