Age 7 at the movies
The first non-classical piece of music to stick in my head.
Drove my parents insane singing this around the house all day. Being in love with Sophia Loren (or was it her high heels?) may have had something to do with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QArtb3nCC8I |

Somewhere in Beetween - Stephen Bishop
It plays during the intro credits to The China Syndrome. A somewhat sensationalized account of something that happened for real. If you watch documentaries about the Three Mile Island nuclear incident in the US, it's clear that this movie plays things up a bit to make things more exciting. The movie is not bad either. You'll see Jane Fonda and a pretty young looking Michael Douglas. The movie feels very 70's with how people dress and talk. Anyway, the intro song is pretty neat. Feels kinda "yacht rock", although I don't think I ever 100% pinned down what that genre is about. deleted the URL because I'm not allowed to post those yet. But the intro credits roll of the movie is super easy to find on Youtube. |

Goldfrapp - Strict Machine. Miami Vice 2006 w/Colin Farrell n Jamie Foxx. Club scene after the opening boat race, Sinnerman (Felix da housecats heavenly house mix) then this. MUST be a tech-trance lover to appreciate.

The opening scene in 'The Eye of the Devil' with David Snell playing the best piece of source music in any film I've ever seen. Composed by the great Gary McFarland. Never seen a test press for sale in over 15+ years of searching - the only way to own it on vinyl - although it apparently does exist. Incredible harp arrangements.

Back in 1985 I saw the movie Ladyhawke. I *loved* that movie. It became my top favourite movie of all time.
I also loved the soundtrack to the movie. There was some really cool electric guitar in the soundtrack (but not in the form of a song, just an electric guitar accompanying the action in the movie). I purchased a vinyl album with the soundtrack to Ladyhawke and played it again and again for many years afterward. |
