My first encounter with Sigur Ros was when I hear this song in Vanilla Sky.

I downloaded it and listened to it a few things then forgot that Sigur Ros even existed.

I need to check out an album of theirs one day.

Heard it in Inglourious Basterds, fell in love immediately.

hmmmm Kool & The Gang USED to very good

prompted me to get the pre-JT singles comp, which is quite good as well, although the cassette no longer works

I heard this was suppose to be Angel by Massive Attack, perhaps a remix? However I can not find this anywhere, but none the less, this is when I was introduced to Massive Attack regardless if its suppose to be them in this film.

Holy crap I was just about to say that. In addition Donnie Darko introduced me to Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels and Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen.

That scene is one of my favourite scenes in any movie ever. Such a cool scene.

DARKRonnoc 07-10-2011 05:38 PM

I actually discover a lot of songs from shows rather than movies.

My Body is a Cage - Peter Gabriel (from House, M.D)
We Used to Be Friends - The Dandy Warhols (The O.C.....don't judge)

There are tons more that I know I can't remember right now

This is definitely the most significant song that I learned of from a movie. They used it SOOO damn well.

Necromancer 07-11-2011 05:05 PM

Nobody Rides For Free-Ratt (Point Break)
When The Night Comes Falling-Jeff Healy (Road House)
Una Palabra-Carlos Varela (Man On Fire)

musicm 08-07-2011 06:05 AM

From watching the movie Rock Star i discovered a lot of songs and bands. For example the song "We All Die Young" by Steelheart.
Also i discovered the song "Africa" by Toto through the tv-series Scrubs.

Scrubs - JD singing Africa (Toto cover)

Howard the Duck 08-09-2011 11:42 PM

one of my favourites:-

from Kill Bill 2 - Meiko Kaji's Uramu Bushi (Flower of Carnage)

later discovered it was originally recorded for the prison exploitation flick Female Prisoner #701 : Scorpion (the first one)

i loved the Scorpion series

adambentley 08-22-2011 07:01 PM

Groove Armada - Hands Of Time

Soundtrack from Collateral.

Awsome Movie, Awsome Song!

noise 08-22-2011 07:16 PM

One movie is responsible for my music tastes today.

That movie is Stealing Beauty.

I watched it because I wanted to see Liv Tyler's tits.

I bought it because of the AMAZING soundtrack. It introduced me to a whole world of music I had never heard. Mazzy Star, Cocteau Twins, Hooverphonic, Portishead...

Still one of my all-time favorite soundtracks, I listen to it all the time.

TAIGI 08-24-2011 05:22 AM

What comes to mind first is "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" by Elvis Costello. More important for me was to discover Costello himself rather than this particular song. It was in Lost in Translation.

As far as I remember, I discovered Radio Dept too in a Sofia Coppola's film. They have great soundtracks.
