Can't believe I forgot about this one:

Ottoman - Vampire Weekend
On the Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist soundtrack. More the other way around for me, I liked the band after buying this soundtrack. Just got lucky I suppose. |
I love this Jazz influenced opener from Spike Lee's superlative film Clockers:

Exactly what I was thinking. |
This definitely deserves to be in this thread. |
^ From Trainspotting, right? I was thinking about that but it wasnt precisely made for the movie. Or is that not the point of this thread?

Another song I wanted to post from was it was "Sing" by Blur :) |
^ It was perfect for that scene. I just thought since The Velvet Underground was around in the 60s, and Trainspotting was made in 1996, the song was written prior to Trainspotting..
Hmm. Ive confused myself now. Either way its a great song and a great movie. |

I always liked the original "Cry, Little Sister" by Gerard McMann from the Lost Boys soundtrack (the updated version for the second film wasn't as good IMHO). Of course, the whole soundtrack is good though.
David Bowie's "Magic Dance" from Labyrinth is a good one as well, if not for just watching the scene of him throwing up the baby in the air while wearing spandex pants and surrounded by a gaggle of puppets (and he did all the baby gurgling in the tune as well for a bit of trivia) for a bit of a giggle. Not a very serious song but then not always a very serious singer. |
