Astonishingly, ELP wasn't mine.

I know, I'm just as amazed as you are. I didn't know there was another ELP fan.

FaSho 06-18-2009 10:39 PM

What is it about long titled songs all being instrumentals?

No lyrics -> gotta say something about the song somewhere. Not always though. But that's the excuse for some bands.

The comp looks interesting. :thumb:

FaSho 06-18-2009 11:08 PM

Okay just finished this thing up. Stand out tracks are as follows.

The Best:
Prudence
Porcupine Tree(I excpected that though :D)

The Good:
The Psychedelic Avengers
Love
Melt-Banana
sgt

The Okay:
Van Der Graaf Generator
Aldi Meola
Fall Of Troy

Nothing. I loved a lot of them. I was just pointing something out.

Comus 06-19-2009 06:53 AM

VDGG was clearly boo boo.

Stone Birds 06-19-2009 09:14 AM

i'm kinda surprised mine made it. it was a demo that i forgot to crop and edit.

FaSho 06-19-2009 09:20 AM

Nope. I didn't bother to contribute this time.

crash_override 06-19-2009 09:43 AM

Melt Banana = FaSho?

Guybrush 06-19-2009 09:48 AM

Oh no! This one passed under the radar .. I could've contributed with :

Black Debbath - Den svarte oljen vil en gang ta slutt, den men hvite oljen vil aldri slutte å pumpe (Støtt norsk pornobransje)

.. which is an absolutely kick-ass song :(

Stone Birds 06-19-2009 09:50 AM

set itunes or whatever to skip the first 42 seconds of my song so you don't have to listen to me getting ready to record.

Good guess, I'm a fan and that's a great song from one of my favorite VdGG records. But it wasn't me. :D

Man I thought I nailed that one. I guess it doe shave to be boo2 then.

Van Der Graaf Generator = boo2?

sidewinder 06-19-2009 01:06 PM

A few guesses...

Norma Jean = crash_override
Melt Banana - Jackhammer

333 06-19-2009 01:38 PM

Man, I really loved this comp, with the exception of Melt Banana, Pigface and The Fall of Troy; however I only skipped one track and that was the Melt Banana one. Maybe it was just the mood that I'm in, but I couldn't handle those screams.

My favorites: Van Der Graaf Generator, Prudence, sgt. and Fats Waller. Very nice, guys.

Alfred 06-19-2009 01:59 PM

I would've guessed Norma Jean to be FaSho.

Hey hey it's up! Mine isn't Melt Banana BTW although I have a feeling it may be PMO. My track choice wasn't that great, i was just looking for a long song title TBH.

Yup. And for the people who hated it, I hate it too and I'm a huge Pigface fan. I think the song is actually supposed to be annoying. Don't hold that against Pigface though, the album that song is from is one of my favorite albums even though it has the one track I always skip. I really just included it because it has such an unbelievably long title.

Karl Sanders?

Zarko 06-19-2009 11:11 PM

Stone Birds – Needs polish but not bad
Van Der Graaf – Pretty meh IMHO. Just don’t have the ear for prog.
Psychadelic Avengers – Pretty interesting… I don’t think its overly special, and consistent guitar such as this isn’t really my thing, but still, interesting. They live up to their name.
Prudence – Nice folkish rock ditty, not a fan of the vocals really though.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer – More prog. More interesting than VDG though, still too much keyboard
Al di Meola – Probably one of my less favourite Meola tracks… Similar to PA, doesn’t really hold my interest being a pure guitar track (Well close to it :p:)
Love – Not bad. But again, nothing special.
Melt Banana – Decent track… And not normally a noise/scream fan. Not a fan of the normal vocals though.
Fats Waller – Classic. Not my favourite work, but a nice find in the compilation.
Mungolian Jet Set – Experimental bluesy jazz. Interesting though, good field recordings, trials off a bit much.
Pigface – Well I thought it was good :p: Interesting construct, even though I ain’t a fan of the German language in music.
Porcupine Tree – One of the better Porcupine Tree songs. Not normally a fan of theirs, probably like the folk sound moreso than the normal psych/prog sound. Got a bit boring.
Norman Jean – Ugh… Skipped it. Just not my thing.
Karl Sanders – Epic… Wasn’t huge on it in the end though, Interesting no doubt but everything seems far off rather than in your face.
Sgt. – Post rock… The type I am not overly keen on. A nice night time track I presume, when in a chilled state, but probably not helped by being in this comp. Fairly bored fairly quickly.
Fall of Troy – Horrible vocals…

Sorry if I offended :p:

In order…

Fats Waller
Pigface
Mungolian Jet Set
Love
Psychadelic Avengers
Porcupine Tree
Melt Banana
Prudence
Al di Meola
ELP
Karl Sanders
Stone Birds
Sgt.
Van Der Graaf
Fall Of Troy
Norman Jean
