The MusicBanter Compilation Jan 2009

I have had so many PM'S that I have had to post a compilation early otherwise I would be losing sight of the tracks and contributors! Many thanks to all who contributed and there is still a little time until I post the 2nd part. I won't give any names out yet but suffice to say that the contributors have usually got 300+ posts. Enjoy and guess away to the contributors!

Part one MB members compilation:

1. The Mystick Crewe Of Clearlight - Swamp Thing
2. Appallachian Terror Unit - Endless Bloodshed
3. The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen
4. Transglobal Underground - Moonshout
5. Angels Of Light - My True Body
6. Psychonauts(James Yorkston) - Hips For Scotland
7. The Attack - Mr. Pinnodmy's Dilemma
8. Nurse With Wound/Stereolab - Simple Headphone Mind
9. Mr. David Viner - Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
10. Tom McKean & The Emperor's - A Little Something
11. Seafood - I Dreamt I Ruled The Sun
12. Yo La Tengo - Pass The Hatchet, I think I'm Goodkind (jackhammer)

I haven't heard any of these bands. This is good.

Dr_Rez 01-14-2009 06:19 PM

Who picked seafood???? Kudos to them.

swim 01-14-2009 06:22 PM

If CA didn't do Angels of Light then I don't know who.

jackhammer 01-14-2009 06:22 PM

That's the whole point- u have to guess! It is members that have a presence on MB on a regular basis and this is is only part one. I'm holding off for part two and last minute entry's!

I have'nt played this yet because it would be scrobbled to last.fm but now I can!

Alfred 01-14-2009 07:22 PM

I'm really digging this first track. I'm assuming it's Lucifer Sam.

lucifer_sam 01-14-2009 07:30 PM

It's possible, but highly unlikely, since I haven't contributed yet. :D

simplephysics 01-14-2009 07:31 PM

Kudos to the Yo La Tengo track, too. Jackhammer, perhaps?

Shit man, it had you written all over it.

Moonshout has me stumped at the moment.

how did u guess?

simplephysics 01-14-2009 07:56 PM

I remember seeing your post in their thread. Or maybe I'm psychic. I'll let you decide.

jackhammer 01-14-2009 08:00 PM

What about the rest?

jackhammer 01-14-2009 08:02 PM

The Afghan whigs track is horrible. I thought that cheesy grunge had died out?

Alfred 01-14-2009 08:03 PM

I haven't heard a bad song yet. I'll definitely be looking into some of these bands/artists sometime.

Demonoid 01-15-2009 05:14 AM

Hehe, I'm kinda lost rite now. No idea who did what.

1. The Mystick Crewe Of Clearlight - Swamp Thing ---- Definitely one of those stoner heads. Not sure which one though. There are quite a few of em.

5. Angels Of Light - My True Body ---- I guess cardboard adolescent cause I noticed him post about this somewhere before!

As for the compilation itself - The most random thing ever :p:. I don't really care whether I liked it or not. Always fun listening to random stuff.

Alfred 01-15-2009 05:20 PM

This was definitely top notch. Can't wait for the second half.

FaSho 01-15-2009 06:57 PM

Moonshout is fuckin' amazing.

ProggyMan 01-15-2009 07:21 PM

Haven't had time to listen yet, probably won't 'til Saturday, looks good though.

WWWP 01-15-2009 07:32 PM

I really like this first half. The only track I didn't like was the 3rd one... No idea who did what though.

jackhammer 01-16-2009 02:46 AM

Good looking comp (a lot of stuff I've never heard of before either) - downloading it now. As for who submitted what, I'll leave the guessing 'til after a few listens.

jackhammer 01-16-2009 06:55 AM

That Angels Of Light track is excellent.

Piss Me Off 01-16-2009 06:58 AM

The first comp is a bit of a rollercoaster ride isn't it!

Demonoid 01-16-2009 08:04 AM

2. Hope Of The States - Black Amnesias ---- definitely mojopinuk. He even stated it as his favorite HOTS track :D.

jackhammer 01-16-2009 08:19 AM

Correct!

The second comp is much better than the first, The Bloody Hollies, HOTS, FOTL, Turtles, Blu & Exile and Cat Power tracks were all brilliant.

That said i should reeeally get some Yo La Tengo

I can send you some albums tomorrow if you haven't gotten any by then.

Sneer 01-16-2009 09:10 AM

At the risk of sounding slightly cheeky, could you send New Wave Hot Dog and/or President Yo La Tengo if you have them?

Piss Me Off 01-16-2009 09:10 AM

What one would you reccomend? I'll have a looky.

ProggyMan 01-16-2009 09:12 AM

Jackhammer, could you sticky this? Seems like it deserves it.

jackhammer 01-16-2009 09:12 AM

I have the whole catalogue if peeps want?

Sneer 01-16-2009 09:19 AM

Youre a great man

Too many sticky's up there at the moment but it should be bumped quite frequently as people get into the comp.

Alfred 01-16-2009 10:34 AM

Mutators "Black Room" is CAPTAIN CAVEMAN.
