I wanted to redo this comp because my previous attempt at one from these guys was too long and had alot of songs that i felt weren't the best for this as well as songs that i realized i missed, so here's

The Beginner's Guide To Butthole Surfers

(link in the picture)

This is a band that people either worship or despise. Formed in San Antonio, Texas in 1981, this group started out as punk/heavy outfit but soon started to become incorporate more experimental ventures in their music, like psychedelic, country, punk and metal, partially due to the band's reported use of psychedelic drugs. This forms an overall sound that can go from fun alternative rock to the deepest depths of experimentation. They are also notoriously known for their over the top live shows, which featured strobe lights, lighting equipment on fire, surgical films being played during their sets, and naked dancers. Now, with over 15 albums and 20+ years later, the group is still going strong.

this comp covers their early days in the 80s with EPs and their first full length album, to their push into the mainstream with their only gold record to date, Electriclarryland, as well as the resulting records after. Be forewarned, if you've never ventured into experimental music before, this may be a little much to take in.

Birds ~ Electriclarryland

note: i apologize for the sheer length of this compilation, but seeing as this is just a small percentage of their overall material i tried to trim it down as much as i could and at the same time trying to represent their overall sound.
