Waiting....On Ships Of Gold: An Introduction To The Black Heart Procession

formed in 1997 and coming out of beautiful sunny San Diego is The Black Heart Procession.....the core members are Pal jenkins and Tobias Nathaniel...both of which are core members of the band Three Mile Pilot....but over the years they picked up members form other Indie rock giants such as Modest Mouse, Hot Snakes, The Album Leaf and Rocket From The Crypt.....

if you had not guessed by the name of the band.....their music and their lyrics concentrate on the concepts of broken hearts, isolation and just complete despondency....but whats great about them is somehow there is a certain amount of lightness with in the music and even at times a a glimps of happiness within the lyrics.....their songs range from slow minimal soundscapes of the heart destroyed to damn near upbeat ballads of isolation....intermix this all with Pal jenkins very unique voice and vocal tendencies.....and you have some of the most wonderful melancholy music you will ever hear.....

my mix is fairly sporadic....really it's just placed in a way that i feel flows nicely....but does cover their entire discography....except for one single...whioch i only omitted due to the long legnth of the tracks....i listed the track names with the albums they are from in parentheses

enjoy

1. We Always Knew (3)
2. The Waiter (1)

Very good mix for one of the most underrated bands on this forum. I would highly advise everyone to give this band a try, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I would say though... perhaps it would be better to split this mix into two, 31 tracks is a bit much for a beginner's guide I think.

Your Rules Don't Apply: A Guide To UNSANE

Unsane formed in 1988 and is a pinnacle band in the noise rock scene.....having always been a three piece and in the early days some member problems....which were concluded with death and arguments.....they settled down with three amazing members....Chris Spencer (Vocals, guitar), Dave Curran (Vocals, Bass) and Vinnie Signorelli (drums)....each of their amazing six albums has very graphic cover art depicting death and violence.....which are actually all fake and stem from their love for gore flicks.....actually the name Unsane comes from the censored american version of Darrio Argento's 'Tenebre'......Unsane's music is slow building, unrelenting and just mean....its like punching somebody in the face while getting punch as hard at the exact same time

in 1998 out while touring Europe for the album Occupational Hazard....Chris Spencer walked out of the venue they had just played in Vienna Austria....some one screamed out "hey" and when he turned to respond he was met with a wooden bat to his face....he was literally beaten within inches of his life by four attackers who though he was an american gi......this helped the demise of one of the greatest bands in the history of pigfuck and noise rock music.....in the interim Chris formed a short lived band called Cutthroats 9, dave also played in Cutthroats 9 as well as a band called JJ Paradise Club and Vinnie started a tattoo shop and later formed the band Storm Of Light with members of Neurosis

in 2004 the band reformed released a "greatest hits" albums called Lambhouse (named after the butcher shop they get the blood for their albums covers from) and toured extensively....releasing two more wonderful full length albums and last year starting their own internet only label called Coextinction records......this is a retrospective of their discography in chronological order....

as an added bonus i added six songs from the two Cutthroats 9 releases!!!!

enjoy

from Singles Collection
1. Vandal-x
2. Streetsweeper
from Unsane
3. Organ Donor
4. Exterminator
from Total Destruction
5. Body Bomb
6. Straight
from Scattered, Smothered, and Covered
7. Alleged
8. Scrape
from AMREP Christmas Party
9. Sick
10. Swim
from Occupational Hazard
11. Scam
12. Understand
from Blood Run
13. Got It Down
14. Make It Prey
from Visqueen
15. Last man Standing
16. Only Pain
from Coexstinction 1
17. Grind
18. Pigeon

Move
You Should Be Dead

Some of these are well thought out, so thank you to all who had shared. I'll give the camera obscura one a shot, but I can not get passed just the one song; Lloyd I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken. I just think the other ones are inferior. Maybe besides French Navy.

I thinking of doing one for Patti Smith.

a beginner's guide to Björk

I was making a CD of my favorite Björk tracks, so I figured I 'd share it. Here's hoping Biophilia forces me to make another one. I think her two best albums are Post and Vespertine, so songs from those albums are frequent. I pared my playlist down from around two hours to fit on a CD, the last song that was cut was "It's Oh So Quiet".

All files were transcoded from FLAC to MP3 V0(LAME 3.98.4). I also embedded artwork and included a m3u playlist. The track numbers on the files are the order of the playlist, and the track numbers in the tags are from the CD/Vinyl. All of the files sourced from CD except Cvalda, which is from an excellent vinyl rip. Songs are ordered by date of release. Enjoy!

Human Behaviour

Army Of Me
Hyper-Ballad
Enjoy
I Miss You

Hunter
Jóga
Alarm Call

Cvalda

Hidden Place
Cocoon
Pagan Poetry
Aurora
Heirloom
Unison

Crystalline
