True that his style is kind of rap-like, but their music has always been so punk or metal (with a bit of funk later on), that I never once have associated them with hip-hop. It's more like talking really, than rapping.

I love that song and album, BTW.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I would really really really like to agree with you, but he had Rage on his list and the two styles really aren't that different to me, kind of a funk-metal thing going on...

The Beginner's Guide to Modern Classical

Of lately I've been getting into a lot of Modern Classical. I was always interested in Classical but my tastes weren't very discerning. I could listen to the Classical station on the radio and would be fine with anything that came on. Modern Classical just has a more up-to-date feel which makes it more accessible. It's like asking someone off the street to read and interpret Elizabethan poetry.. chances are it will go right over their head (Speaking of which, I'm a huge fan of Elizabethan poetry). Well I don't wanna drag this out for too long, so here you go. I added in some Ambient tracks as well since it's quite a common influence.

Max Richter - On the Nature of Daylight
Jóhann Jóhannsson - Fordlandia
A Broken Consort - Weight of Days
Richard Skelton - Of the Last Generation
Jóhann Jóhannsson - Fordlandia
Ólafur Arnalds - Himininn er að hrynja, en stjörnu
Jacaszek - Rytm To Nieśmiertelność
Hammock - City in the Dust in my Window
Library Tapes - And The Rain Did Fall
Goldmund - Evelyn
Christopher Bissonnette - In Accordance

Pete...this live band hip hop compilation is a little different than the last one you posted (which I was listening to today, by the way). I may have to give this one a go as well, since the other one was so great.

I chose a RATM song because everyone knows who they are and I didn't want to scare off potential listeners with a bunch of obscure bands nobody has ever heard of.

Pete had an indie hip-hop comp, maybe that's what you're thinking of?

how does it feel to be so very WRONG!!! It was in the mixtape thread (here) and it looks like I copied a lot of the same bands :/ Oh well I'm far happier with my beginner's guide than my earlier one, far better songs I think.

c'mon people I need feedback! VALIDATE ME!!!!
