gunnels 02-01-2010 08:23 PM

I didn't realize megaupload HAD a download limit!

mrguy 02-01-2010 08:27 PM

it usually just means that you have to wait 15 minutes after the last download to do it again, i got those too for other sites and thought the same thing.

but yeah, it's just a matter of having a little patience. if the comps i put on there still don't work for you though, i'll put it up on another site, ok?

mrguy 02-01-2010 09:02 PM

It still doesn't load :(

WIKI:
is a 3-piece band from Tokyo's underground music scene centered around Kōenji. They have an eclectic sound usually described as psychedelic pop-punk. Whilst renowned and highly influential within Japan, it took them 16 years since their formation in 1989 to play a show outside of Japan, performing in New York City in 2005.

My 2cents: found this band while going through a surf rock phase, real catchy pop music, they are a big deal in japan. I was there recently and was pretty pissed to miss them, ( missed bus home from the snow by about 15 minutes.) Think theyve released about 9 or 10 albums, of which ive chosen songs from 3; ( Hollow Me/ Beautiful, Sweet Spot , and a 1998 - 2004 compilation). Definately not an expert on this band, but when looking to trade or talk about new bands ive found with people, is always one of the first ill bring up, they seem to mesh the best bits of the indie sound, while paying tribute to a 60s psych band, and even a smooth sundays saxaphone band?? see what you think...

favourite songs: Listless Dream, Hollow Me, Ohayo Mada Yaro, De KangaeChuu

Weird, your sixteenth post was one promoting some obscure Asian band nobody has ever heard of before. Mind explaining this to me?

I took the liberty of removing the link for now.

EDIT: the Early RHCP compilation is up too

well anyway, i hope that's settled now, so now on to.......

The Beginners Guide to Early Red Hot Chili Peppers
Moderator cut: image removed

this is a collection of songs by RHCP pre-Californication and BloodSugarSexMagik, as well as with mostly the original lineup of Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Hillel Slovak, and Jack Irons. there's a few songs where they had the lineup of John Frusciante and Chad Smith, but i'm still counting those as most people still regard their time before BSSM as the "old" sound.

EDIT: this is an improved version from a previous compilation, so anybody who downloaded this previously, just check to see if it's the same one it is now

Fight Like a Brave
Behind The Sun
Backwoods
Get Up and Jump
Fire (originally by Jimi Hendrix)
Good Time Boys
Grand Pappy Du Plenty

^^^

No Backwoods? Worth it for when that bass kicks in surely- although it is best cranked loud for that track.

EDIT. There is not enough room on the original post for indexing so I may export the files to a brand new thread or something similar so it can be constantly updated so don't complain if it's closed for a while over the next couple of days or so.

Not a huge fan of the track choices, to be honest. 'Get Up and Jump' from the self-titled is quite possibly my favorite Peppers track, along with 'American Ghost Dance', which just have to be included. 'Grand Pappy Du Plenty' just doesn't fit.

I love that you included their best covers, 'Fire' and 'Higher Ground', but I would have chosen different songs from Mother's Milk as well. 'Magic Johnson' is the worst of the lot IMO, and could have been replaced by another Uplift Mofo track like 'Skinny Sweaty Man.'

I'm not gonna lie though, I love this topic... :D

edit: my playlist would look something like this:

Fight Like a Brave
True Men Don't Kill Coyotes
American Ghost Dance
Fire (originally by Jimi Hendrix)
Get Up and Jump
Me and My Friends
Higher Ground (originally by Stevie Wonder)
If You Want Me To Stay (originally by Sly & The Family Stone)
Behind The Sun
Good Time Boys
Green Heaven
Hollywood (originally by The Meters)
Skinny Sweaty Man
Out In L.A.
Knock Me Down
Jungle Man
Catholic School Girls Rule
Taste The Pain
The Brothers Cup
Yertle the Turtle
Johnny, Kick a Hole in the Sky
