You're right about Nocturama, it has a couple of really good songs on it but otherwise it's a pretty lame album - somehow manages to be overlong and rushed at the same time.

Just think that it falls under the 'nothing special' category... It all feels too similar, which is annoying because we know for a fact that Cave can keep on pulling new ideas/sounds/combination's from anywhere. It's a nice chilled album, but nothing on it that is memorable.

Any particular songs you would swap in/out? I was a little hesitant on 'The Hammer Song' but felt TGS deserved to be recognised despite being a down tempo album overall.

With the more intense list I was a bit 80's heavy, and a bit 00's/late 90's heavy with the chilled list... But thats his natural progression in a lot of ways...

I think you're more or less bang on target with the tracklisting, it's a great intro (and hopefully one a few people round here will put to good use). The only things I would've done would be to have the Witness Song in for the Hammer Song (but then again, they are two terrific songs) and have Brompton Oratory represent the Boatman's Call. Again though, the one you chose is another one his finest, more chilled-out numbers.

But, yeah, great mix. I'd be on it like a fly on a bowl of trifle if I didn't already have it :thumb:

From Boatman's I was close to chucking in Black Hair, but thought the better of it, Brompton was my close to getting the gig though.

But really can't go wrong with The Boatman's, an amazingly consistent album.

It was only a matter of time :D

A Beginner's Guide To Elvis Costello

Seeing as I hope to bring my thread back from the dead sometime soon, I think I might as well publicize it this way. By the way, the reason there's nothing from My Aim Is True is simply because I forgot to upload a track from it and, frankly, I can't be arsed to delete the playlist I've got online to accommodate it. Anyway...

This is an excellent comp. Before now I'd only heard a couple of their songs from a friend of mine and wasn't that impressed. You did a really good job of making a very ecclectic mix here. It shows a wide range of styles and talent. Good job!

BTW...I have to say my personal faves were the songs off of "Showbiz", especially "Falling Down". Very bluesy feel to it, IMO.

Is there any interest in a Mozart comp? I might be able to put one together.

Thanks a lot for this. I've been wanting to get into Elvis Costello for a while now.

One person satisfied makes it all worth it! Though to tell the truth, I have been whoring this comp to other friends online too :D
