Anyway, I'm not saying that the sort of "classic" punk from the mid to late 70s is necessarily the best, but on an "intro to Punk" compilation it's kind of important to, you know, have the music that essentially laid the foundation for the hardcore and ska stuff that was on your list. I mean, if somebody wanted to listen to punk and never had before, he might want to know the earlier stuff. Just a thought. |
Haha yeah tried to change up the title a bit.
You're totally right. I guess I'll leave it up, maybe someone will find it useful. |
Well it's definitely a good selection of... mostly 80s American punk.

Downloaded the punk comp and listening now. I actually do agree that 80's punk is better than 70's punk btw, which a lot of people would disagree with. It's less commercial and less trendy. Following on from jackhammer where is the UK stuff? GBH? The Exploited? Stiff Little Fingers?
|
Yeah I know, I should have researched the UK punk scene more before putting that comp up, I'm really only knowledgeable of the american punk scene.
|
Man someone should make a comprehensive punk compilation... Like 100 tracks including proto punk like the Stooges and post punk like Joy Division. That would be awesome.

I think a '77 and UK82 comp should be on the cards though. |
