Okay bob, I was having some trouble again but I think it's worked out now. I successfully got the first comp. Thanks for working at it for so long!

If anyone's looking to get into them, here's a compilation of what I consider to be some of the very best of
https://encrypted-tbn2.google.com/im...B2nK1hva9_r2ut Not surprisingly, it's split across three archives (would have been two, but the second one was larger than Mediafire allows for a single upload). Volume I covers the early Di'Anno material and the Dickinson era up to his departure after "Fear of the dark". Prowler Phantom of the opera Strange world Iron Maiden Wrathchild Murders in the Rue Morgue Killers Prodigal son Drifter The Prisoner Run to the hills The number of the Beast Hallowed be thy name The Trooper Where eagles dare Sun and steel To tame a land Flight of Icarus Aces high Powerslave Rime of the Ancient Mariner Caught somewhere in time Heaven can wait Sea of madness Moonchild The evil that men do Only the good die young Tailgunner Holy smoke Hooks in you Bring your daughter ... to the slaughter Afraid to shoot strangers Childhood's end Judas be my guide Fear of the dark Iron Maiden.rar Volume 2 covers the interim years with Blaze Bayley, basically two albums Sign of the cross Lord of the flies Man on the edge The angel and the gambler The Clansman Don't look to the eyes of a stranger iron maiden 2b.rar and finally volume 3 is everything from Bruce's return up to the present. Ghost of the navigator Brave new world Blood brothers The nomad Rainmaker Montsegur Paschendale Journeyman These colours don't run The longest day Lord of light Satellite 15 ... the final frontier Island of Avalon Starblind The man who would be king When the wild wind blows Iron Maiden 2a.rar Enjoy! |
Excellent, I might need to free up some space for that 2a stuff. None of it rings a bell.

Where is Innocent Exile and Still Life Trollheart? ;) Two of my favourite all time Maiden tunes but it's all subjective. Top effort sir! Great to see To Tame A Land. Superb track.

Yeah, I know: cutting the list down hurt like hell. Lots of tracks I would have liked to have included, but you have to draw the line somewhere, dont'ya?
|
I love Tom Waits!

You're all right by me then! :thumb: :)

(soon I will stop trembling) I made this mix few days ago for 8tracks, but inspired by Big Four Bands Thread decided to post it here too. Like I said there, I see freak folk genre as a modern scene influenced by 60s psychedelic jams, especially by more out there freak-outs (Red Krayola, Cromagnon, for example); Sun City Girls/Sir Richard Bishop brand of primitivism; and minimalism/drone of La Monte Young, Tony Conrad, Terry Riley etc... I didn't make this playlist to be a beginner's guide, but it can serve as one. The mix is more oriented toward mystical, pagan side of freak folk (like being alone in the dark wood). It's interesting to compare it to neo-folk, which is, with its ties to early industrial, drenched in occult; this on the other side is swimming in 'primitive' ritual. Tracklist Fursaxa - "Alone in the Dark Wood" (Alone in the Dark Wood, 2007) Kabyzdoh Obtruhamchi - "Viva Piskadero!" (Estcho, 2009) Wooden Veil - "Gloom Across the Ice" (Wooden Veil, 2009) Inca Ore - "Everlasting Fountain" (Birthday Of Bless You, 2008) Vibracathedral Orchestra - "Ordinary Babies" (Versatile Arab Chord Chart, 2000) Islaja - "Palaa aurinkoon" (Palaa aurinkoon, 2005) Lau Nau - "Kuljen halki kuutarhan" (Kuutarha, 2004) Spires That in the Sunset Rise - "Bells Don't Ring At Night" (Spires That in the Sunset Rise, 2004) Anna Homler and Steve Moshier - "Sirens" (Breadwoman & Other Tales, 2016) Pocahaunted - "Ashes is White" (Island Diamonds, 2008) Paavoharju - "Vitivalkoinen" (Yhä Hämärää, 2005) Sun Araw - "The Phynx" (The Phynx, 2008) Badgerlore - "Building a Nest" (Stories for Owls, 2005) Topaz Rags - "Darker Sooner" (Capricorn Born Again, 2009) Charalambides - "Strokes" (Joy Shapes, 2004) The Tower Recordings - "Harmengi - The Tower Becomes A Sun" (Folkscene, 2001) Freak Folk download For those who want to listen on 8tracks (and still can without youtube): 8tracks radio | Soon I will stop trembling (16 songs) | free and music playlist |
Hi dankrsta! It's so nice to see you posting here again after such a long time. I hope you are well.
Many thanks for your compilation, which I have downloaded but not listened to yet. I only recognised one name from the bands you listed and obviously know less about Freak Folk than I imagined. oops! |
