Best soundtrack from a movie?
Movie soundtracks can be mind blowing, or super sucky. Also since they're more like a mixed CD than a normal album by an artist they can allow exsposure to new music.
Is there a movie soundtrack that you love? I have two. First the soundtrack for Harold and Maude, Cat Stevens made the whole thing specifically for the movie. Second is the Juno soundtrack, cliche, but oh well. :P |

No one has mentioned my favorite soundtracks yet, so I will! (1) On Golden Pond. I first watched this movie when I was 12. I loved it. I still do. The themes of aging, dealing with life's disappointments, trying to mend family rifts, and facing impending death are timeless, I feel. The soundtrack was composed by Dave Grusin Dave Grusin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and is beautiful, I feel, fitting the scenes of nature perfectly. Adding to all this, I thought the lead boy was a hunk when I was young! This movie stirred the poet in me. All of my first poems were about water and ripples and birds and forests, thanks in large part to this movie. Here is the opening of On Golden Pond, in which you can hear the piano theme (you have to click on the link to watch it on YouTube, since embedding isn't allowed): (2) Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I also loved this movie when I was young. It sucked me in. I watched it recently, wondering how I'd react as an adult to the movie and soundtrack, by John Williams. It gave me chills throughout the movie. Even though the main theme has become a musical cliche, I still love the soundtrack. The music feels magical to me, and powerful, and eerie. The music feels like wonder and adoration, such as around 4:15. I always especially liked the "communication" part between aliens and humans. It's very good modern classical music! You can hear a bit this communication scene in the video:

My all time favourite soundtracks (by all time, I mean the only ones I've had the urge to actually buy) are 'Shaun of the Dead', 'Trainspotting' and 'Empire Records'.
'Empire Records' as a film and soundtrack always makes me feel good, no matter what. It's my rainy day soundtrack....
