Oh okay, apparently so. Patti Smith performed it first, according to allmusic, but also according to allmusic, they did compose it together. I had always heard it attributed solely to Smith.

these are just the songs im really into right now i tried to pick relativley obscure artists so people wouldnt complain that theyd heard the song before
