yea that song 'how do you sleep' redone, only this time about himself and not paul. the violins and trumpets in the background are directly from 'how do you sleep'. apparently john said when he wrote the song he wasn't thinking of himself, he realised it was about him when reading it over. lines like "your mother left you, when you were small, but you're gonna wish you wasn't born at aaaaaaaaall" great stuff.

This is a brilliant idea for a thread... Let's get people back on this!
Here is my 10 track offering<<<

1. She Says Good Morning - The Pretty Things
From 'S.F. Sorrow', as a psychedelic listening experience this album is nearly unrivaled. Used to listen to this and be bitter.

2. That Man - The Fall
Used to listen to this and be bitter.

3. Cuttin' Headz - Ol' Dirty Bastard/RZA
From one of my favourite hip-hop albums, this track just epitomizes the genius of RZA's production, there was nothing like this before. It sounds like it was recorded on a four track with a sparse beat and a dusty piano sample.

4. I Can See You - Black Flag
I read Henry Rollins' Black Flag tour diaries ('Get in the Van') and some of his compendiums and I have just related to him at various points in my life. Still a massively under-appreciated band I think, and 'In My Head', their last album, just marks the end of their progression as post-hardcore luminaries. This track makes me feel like a plaid-wearing teen in a D.C. suburb. Or something...

5. Kyrie Eleison - The Electric Prunes
From the Prunes' sophomore effort, you may be able to tell by now that I am a psychedelia aficionado... but this really is amazing. Their second album was basically psych-reworkings of old hymns and Gregorian chants. Also known as 'that track off Easy Rider'.

6. Miss Know It All - Scientist
Scientist learned production and dub from the originator, King Tubby. This track reminds me of when I first got some decent speakers a couple of years ago and would have the Trojan dub compilations on repeat pretty much all the time. Big up the soundsystem man dem...

7. The Killing - the Ragga Twins
I can't remember who turned me onto the Ragga Twins' turn-of-the-last-decade electro/ragga/house LP classic, but it's one of my most cherished.

8. Rhythm and Gash - Tempa T
Grime music pulled me out of the abyss about a year ago. Listening to the pirate radio stations, buying the cheap-as-chips mixtapes and learning the lingo... this was music with unbridled anger and funnily enough, alot of positivity. And it's OURS... grime owes alot more to UK garage/ragga/dancehall than hip-hop and it's just ****ing street level and I love it.

9. Love and Pride - King
This sounds alot like the Associates, who were a much better New Wave act, but this clinical, 80's pop nugget was something I used to hear all the time.

10. Rudolf - Peyr (pronounced Theyr)
Can't remember how I discovered this band, they were and Icelandic post-punk/new wave act operating in the early 80's. The tracks I have heard of this album, sung in English, are on fire but it's long since out of print. This track is an objective look at yer average German citizen in 1935.

my depression playlist
1.That Joke isn't Funny Anymore-The Smiths
"i've seen this happen in other peoples lives and now it's happening in mine!"

2.How Soon is Now?-The Smiths
"I am the son and the heir of a shyness that is criminally vulgar. I am the son and heir of nothing in particular."

3.Between The Bars- Elliott Smith
"drink up one more time and i'll make you mine
keep you apart deep in my heart separate from the rest
where i like you the best"

4.Please Please Please, Let Me Get What I Want-The Smiths
"Good times for a change. See, the luck I've had can make a good man turn bad. So please please please let me, let me, let me let me get what I want this time."

5.Love Will Tear us Apart- Joy Division
"And resentment rides high, but emotions won't grow.
And we're changing our ways, taking different roads.
Then love, love will tears us apart again."

6.24hrs.- Joy Division
So this is permanence, love's shattered pride? What once was innocent, turned on it's side. A cloud hangs over me, marks every move. Deep in the memory, of what once was love."

Ah, I love that song and I completely agree about it being one of Australia's unofficial anthems.

SIDE A
1. Metallica - Master of Puppets
I love everything about this song! The riff is timeless and it gets me going everytime I hear it.
2. Dream Theater - Forsaken
This song is great, the group amazing. What else should be said? The vocals in this song are incredible!
3. Pantera - Walk
Such a simplistic riff, but it makes me want to knock someones teeth in. It also helps that I could relate to the song.
4. Korn - Freak on a Leash
The bass in this song is great! I love John's freak out in the middle of the song!
5. Slayer - Raining Blood
Love the band, love the song. Slayer holds a special place to my heart. This song along with the album is genuis.
6. Slipknot - Psychosocial
Great song, this show's that Slipknot still holds up. Although I think that there new album is all together just OK.
7. System of a Down - Chop Suey
Good song, I love the yelling!
8. Marilyn Manson - Disposable Teens
Great band, good song I love the music video. "The more that you fear us the bigger we get." I love that lyric!

On a more softer note I really enjoy the group Nirvana. In Utero is one of my favorite albums of all time. This song is great I also enjoy the unplugged version of it.
10. Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face
I love the opening bass in this song. I'm a guilty fan of death metal. The lyrics are brutal and I love it!

Some of those are really good, but the tracks weren't that big of a suprise.
