After some digging deep in the ol' CD collection today I thought I'd put together 10 of the essentials of classic African folk in one place for anyone curious to find. Here's the tracklisting;

1. Baaba Maal - Loodo
2. Ismael Lo - Jelebi
3. Boubacar Traore - Kar Kar Madison
4. Ali Farka Toure - La Drogue
5. Djelimady Tounkara - Mande Djeliou
6. Oliver Mtukudzi - Pirundai Mambo
7. Sam Mangwana - Femmes Africaines
8. Ballake Sissoko - Deli
9. Salif Keita - M'bemba
10. Toumani Diabate - Mali Sadio

Enjoy

Yeah, I've been freeing up space on my MediaFire account, so I must have deleted it back there.

There'll be a newer, bigger, sexier version of it appearing in my journal over the next day or so, so keep an eye on that thread eh.

What terrible luck I have... I just decided to check out this thread and see if there was some type of music that looked interesting that I haven't heard much of. It just so happened I picked African folk for the first comp to download

EDIT: Cool, apparently I've been here before, I posted a comp once. Had no idea. And that's where the 10 songs I have from Comus' 1001 albums thing comes from. I guess I have a lot of catching up to do though... that may be one of the only ones I have so far.

Default My Personal Top 10 Favorite Songs Of All Time

Here is a list of my Top 10 Songs Of All Time.

10. I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) - Meat Loaf

9. Money For Nothing - Dire Straits

8. Gunslinger - Avenged Sevenfold

7. Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin

6. Nothing Else Matters - Metallica

5. By The Way - Theory Of A Deadman

4. Disarm - Smashing Pumpkins

3. Hurt - Johnny Cash

2. Mama, I'm Coming Home - Ozzy Osbourne

1. Don't Cry (Original) - Guns N' Roses

Music, for me, is all emotion and I prefer songs with emotion. These 10 songs either bring up an old memory , an old friend (or girlfriend) or were just playing at the right place at the right time. This list is all over the place. From different genres, to different era's, to different meanings. They aren't listed according to the music to the song, as it would be a very different looking list, but the meaning and lyrics mainly.
