This is a really good thread. I do find though I tend to head for the Mixtapes that are of the more unusual artists. A selection of the more well known has less appeal to me.
Well, one reason i went with all instrumental is that the vocals do come in the way when listening to most italian prog. I do know a bit of italian myself and my friend translates the rest and that wasn't much of a problem for me
But at any case, if you'd like to give it a try, let me know. I could translate some of the stuff i guess. There are also sites where it's been translated. (or maybe if the vocals don't bother you much, you could just listen to it )

Yes please. That would be fantastic. I have no issue with non English vocals and lyrics in the slightest.

Give me a moment then. I'll up an album soon and send it to ya. The translation, well, I could just post a rough idea of what the songs mean, as my understanding of the language is quite bad.
Italian prog is quite informative in terms of bands/discography and what some of the top albums are. There's Progarchives as well, but anyways, I don't wanna confuse you with all these information
I can upload an album only after an hour(I need to re-rip/convert these tracks as i deleted them), but anyways, I'll get it done soon.

I haven't got any compilations to offer (not yet anyway), but check this out:

Alphataurus - La Mente Vola (quite modern sounding for 1972)

New Trolls - Adagio (very classically influenced)

And I'm downloading your compilation now btw.

Great link. I have to admit that it all passed me by. I had heaps of British Prog but apart from that had only really heard PFM of that band that was on ELP's Manticore label and do not know any of their music.

Women Who Rock.

I was feeling kind-of feministy and so I threw together a mix of female artists/ singer-songwriters who I think rock. Not really rock music per se, but just a variety women in the music industry who I adore.

1. "Cry Baby," Janis Joplin.
2. "I Found A Reason," Cat Power.
3. "Muhammed My Friend," Tori Amos.
4. "Down By The Water," PJ Harvey.
5. "Criminal," Fiona Apple.
6. "Out And In," Kate Miller-Heidke.
7. "Not A Pretty Girl," Ani DiFranco.
8. "Samson," Regina Spektor.
9. "Frozen," Tegan and Sara.
10. "Ta Douleur," Camille.

I caught Kate Miller-Heidke live a year or two back. Classy.

Already have two of the tracks(Fiona Apple and Tegan And Sara), but I'll check out. Looks good.

Megaupload confuses me.
