I understand the reasoning behind the sampling of PP, but I had no idea Superstition was sampled at all, or I did and shrugged it off.

How 'bout a full song sample... lol

This tune is great, but... there's always a but... the harmonica is mixed way too up front to my ears:

...and another cover:

LOVE the RHCP cover of Higher Ground. Saw em do it live. Lifts everybody up.

Can't agree about the harmonica level on Boogie. His playing makes it. Probably my favorite Wonder track.

But I can understand about modulating it. Here's a clip of Stevie playing it at levels where in an actual ensemble its appropriate -

Spain (live in London, 2008)

I've been trying to find an upload of I Ain't Gonna Stand For It/As If You Read My Mind as it is on Hotter Than July. They're engineered as a complimentary fit and Stevie performs them live that way. YouTube uploaders rarely upload both a single clip, and for some reason, separate the the live performances too! What can you do but play the damn album?

Here he is singing bits of Ain't Gonna Stand It at Abbey Road -

This clip is also interesting when Stevie talks about wanting to go college and, in general, move on to "something else" as many people regard the album he recorded at that time (Hotter) as the end of the classic Wonder period. Others claim that Songs in The Key was the end of a string of exceptional Wonder lps. I don't think he ever stopped making great music.

I'm such a dork. I wasn't even paying attention to the tune I was posting. I think I meant to post this as that full song sample, which is right in line with what a dork who posted the wrong tune would call a cover:

I'll blame it on early onset Alzheimer's.

lol

As far as the other tunes, do you mean these?

Many favorites already mentioned on this thread ("Village Ghetto Land", "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing", "Boogie On Reggae Woman" etc.); but i can't resist posting this performance of "Superstition" on Sesame Street(!). Stevie & co. making it all look easy with a jam that gets even better as it goes on, and the kid at the top of the stairs *understands*.

Happy Chanukkah to anyone celebrating.

Taking a quick Stevie break. Haven't listened to this one in a while; but it's one of several Stevie tracks that becomes an earworm when I listen to it. I "really love" how it alternates between uptempo and slowness. Co-written with the wonderful Syreeta Wright who sings backup along with Stevie here.

I've always loved this song musically, but was slightly averse to it thinking the lyrics were somewhat condescending to Stevie's former wife and songwriting partner Syreeta. Then I read that the song is actually about Stevie's troubled relationship with Motown boss Berry Gordy (e.g., "Mary"/"Berry", "wants to be another movie star"/Motown going into films, "Try to boss the bull around" - Stevie's sun sign Taurus the Bull/"Black Bull Productions" etc.).

Sounds about right. But calling Berry Mary is quite the dig!
