Default Blurt

I first got into Blurt in the very early 80s, I think. The brain child of sax man Ted Milton, most people might not consider Blurt to be a funk band but I am hard pressed to regard them as anything else. They definitely studied their James Brown (without using a bass player if you can believe that). There's a funk sensibility to everything they do. Maybe a strange juxtaposition of punk and funk.

I hear elements of funk as well as elements of jazz.

It just sounds more punk orientated to me.

I was wondering whether there was some other band called Blurt, because of the category you chose.
But nope, the one and only.
They're a cool band. Haven't listened to them for years, thanks for reminding me about their existence.

I did a little research and found out the band is best known for their style of experimental art rock.
Headed by the English poet and musician Ted Milton.
Milton is mentioned in the autobiography by Eric Clapton. He replies concerning Milton "as a most extraordinary man, a poet and a visionary".

After searching YouTube a little, I did run into the single Mesopotamia. And I like this particular song.
