Impossible to choose as both are great. I also like the Frankie Goes to Hollywood version. After FGTH, Edwin Starr seemed to make his version heavier when he played it live. Around the time of Reagan's Star Wars plan, he added the line, 'We don't want to die, don't put your pistols in the sky.'
