need help figuring out a song!
 

I heard this song the other night at a NYE party at Elbo Room in SF.

Here's what I can remember about it:

Male singing with raspy voice
It had a funky, almost psychedelic sound
Slow, but groovy
The only lyrics I can remember are in the chorus the man sings "Heyyyyyyyyy mamaaaaaaa" over and over.

Come on, soul brothers and sisters!

I'll take any suggestions! Even if it's not the right song, I'll still dig the music, I'm sure!

It sounded like an Old School artist.

Also - all the songs were played on 45s

If thats not it, check into Black Joe Lewis or John Newman. They have raspy voices.
